Chapter 11

Inside the limo, I cuddle him while he plants kisses on the top of my head. I can’t believe the turn of events between us. Every so often, he whispers he loves me. When we get home, he holds my hand until we get upstairs, then helps me out of my coat.

“Where do you want to talk?” His phone rings, interrupting the moment, and frustration bubbles in my chest until he fishes it out of his pocket and hit the power button to silence it while telling me it’s not important.

“It might be.”

“Right now, you’re the most important thing to me.”

“Can I change first?”

“Of course, but I do love that dress on you.”

I grin, looking down at the dress, which stops a few inches above my knee. “You are a leg man, aren’t you? I’ve seen you looking at mine.”

“I think I’m a Paige man. I like all of you.”

“Quite the charmer, Mr. Black.”

“Only with you, Mrs. Black.”

In my room, I strip out of my dress. I am giddy because the life I thought would be gone by next year, might be permanent. Foster wants me to be his wife for real—,, and the thought alone hasn’t sunken in yet. I quickly change into a pair of pink shorts and a dark blue t-shirt. Foster is still waiting for me in the living room. He’s discarded his jacket and light blue tie, leaving him in slacks and a white button own. His eyes immediately zero in on my legs, and I smile.

“See, leg, man.”

I position myself on the loveseat opposite from where Foster is sitting. I need to keep a clear head for this conversation, and being too close to him will fog up my brain.

“Paige, man,” he insists but didn’t stop staring at my legs until I curl them under me. He then clears his throat, asking, “Do you want to go first?”

“I’m not sure where you want me to lead.”

“Then, I’ll start. I want to take you on vacation, just us. No business, no phone calls, just a discovery of each other.”

I begin to laugh but slap my hand over my mouth. “You can’t stop conducting business, Foster. You couldn’t last on our honeymoon.”

“That wasn’t a honeymoon. This one will be.”

“Where?”

“You pick. Do you want to go back to Paris? You seemed to enjoy it.”

“I think I’d prefer somewhere sunny and warm.”

“We could go to Hawaii, have you ever been? Or Turks and Caicos. Anywhere really. We can take my jet.”

I point out, “Don’t you mean our jet?”

“Wise girl. So, where are we off to?”

“When are we going?”

“Next week works for me.”

“That soon?”

“In the meantime, we can discuss other things. Whatever is on your mind.”

Not hesitating, I tell him, “We have to tell everyone the truth.”
