“It is my building.”

“Fuck! Is anything mine?” I screech.

“Everything I own is yours. I’m nothing without you.”

I fume, staring out the window, trying to hide my face as my lips broke into a smirk of disbelief. As fucked up as the entire situation is, I want to be with Foster. But this time, I will make him pay for his deception.

“I hope you know I won’t be so easy to sway this time. I won’t be seduced by money.”

He reaches over to turn my head toward him. “No, you won’t. You’ll be seduced by me. I want your everything. I want you to be mine.”

“How do you expect me to have a relationship with you? Our marriage was built on lies orchestrated by you. Erika was right.”

Foster frowns at my mention. “What was she right about?”

“You. She said you were a spoiled asshole who twisted her heart. And I know what she means because you twisted mine too.”

“I’ll work to correct what I’ve done,” he swears. “I can’t lose you. I lost one love, but she was all wrong for me. You’re the right one.”

“You don’t know that.”

“I do,” Foster insists. His cell rings, and he holds a finger up to me while he answers. I listen intently to his conversation as he says, “We’ll be there in five minutes. Please be ready to go. Did you do as I ordered?”

“What did you do?” I ask after he hang-ups.

“It’s a surprise.”

“I do not agree to anything.”

“I have a plan.”

“That’s what got you into this mess in the first place,” I mumble.

Foster reaches over for my hand and pulls it onto his lap. Stroking the back of it, he pays particular attention to my ring finger. “We need to remedy this.”

“Excuse me?”

He gestures to my hand. “Your finger.”

“What is wrong with my finger?”

“It’s bare.”

I yank my hand away. “And it will stay that way.”

“Not if I have my way.”

“I won’t make it easy this time.”

Shifting closer, Foster wraps his arm around my neck and gently tucks me into him. Staring into my eyes, he then presses his lips against mine. He does not attempt to go further, just keeping steady pressure on them before he lets me go. His simple kiss causes my body to react in a way that I can’t control. Foster aroused me, which made me realize, resisting him would not be easy.

As we pull onto the tarmac, I spot the Black Industries jet waiting for us. Holding my elbow in his large hand as if I will disappear before his eyes, Foster keeps contact with me as we exit the sedan. The heavy rain had tapered off to a fine drizzle. As we entered the plane, the captain and two female crew members dressed in blue uniforms greet us.

“Mr. and Mrs. Black, a pleasure to see you again,” the captain says.

Before I could correct him, Foster speaks up. “Thank you, Captain Beasley. When will we be taking off?”

“In about fifteen minutes. Get yourself settled.”
