I remain inside her when I’m finished, still hard. I start to rub her clit in intense circles until I feel her tremble as she orgasms. I quickly pull out and take her in my arms.

“That was hot.”

“We shouldn’t have done that,” she whispers.

“I needed it, and so did you. Admit it.”

She nods and pulls from my embrace, heading to the door. She opens it and peers down either side of the hall, then leaves.

I’m sitting on my bed, going through some emails on my laptop when I hear a knock at the door.

“Yeah, come in.”

Lana opens it and tells me that dinner is ready. Her tone is clipped, and I wonder what could be wrong. Before I can shut down, she’s down the hallway. Several people are at the table when I get to the patio, and I’m introduced to everyone. Lana’s old boyfriend, Don, and his fiancée, Lucinda, greet me warmly, along with his parents, Susan and Donald Foster. Jeffrey is there with his parents, Alisa and Terrence Clayton.

I’m perplexed because Lana won’t look at me through the entire meal. I make small conversation with Jeffrey, who won’t stop asking about Grace and Alicia, who is overly friendly. When dinner is finished, we all go our separate ways. Lana starts to head for the beach, and I catch up to her, grabbing her hand. She shakes it away from me.

“What’s the matter?”

“You treated me like a piece of meat before. What the fuck got into you?”

“Lana, I thought you wanted it.”

“I did, but excuse me if I’ve gotten used to being treated a certain way in bed by you.”

“I didn’t…I’m sorry. What can I do to make it better?”

“Nothing. Go away. I want to be alone right now.”

“Fine. If you want to talk, I’ll be in my room.”

I head back up the lawn and sit in one of the chairs off to the side of the empty patio. Alicia comes out of the house, holding a martini that has four olives attached to a toothpick. She reminds me of Lana, except her hair is closer to blonde than auburn, probably the result of hair dye. She has beer colored eyes, and her lips aren’t as full as her sister’s.

“Zane, how are you?” she chirps as she sits next to me.

“I’m okay.”

“Where is my sister? You two seemed like you’re having an issue. Is everything alright?”

“You should ask her.”

She pats my hand, stroking the pads of her fingers across the back. I nonchalantly move it into my lap because her touch sends shivers down my spine. I sense that she has ulterior motives.

“Lana and I aren’t the best of friends, so why don’t you tell me?”

“Why is that?”

“She can be difficult and jealous. I have what she wants.”

“What might that be?”

“Money. You should watch yourself. She has a bad habit of expecting things that she doesn’t deserve. Just ask Don.”

“What does he have to do with it?”

“She dated him for two years in college. She expected they would get engaged, and she would have access to the Foster millions. But he had other plans, and when he dumped her, she went a bit crazy.”

I’m horrified at this piece of information, not because I believe it, but because Lana’s flesh and blood would reveal it to me without so much as blinking an eye.
