Nearing six, I’m in my office, dozing in my chair when Olivia comes to get me.
“I’m finished,” she announces. “My head is swimming with code, but I’ll come in tomorrow to finish it off.”
“You’re going to spend your weekend here?”
“I need another couple of hours to get it all done.”
“Well, let’s head out before Lexi gets angry.”
While we wait for the elevator, I’m enveloped by Olivia’s perfume. Whatever it is will forever remind me of her. It’s feminine, flowery, and sweet. I don’t realize that I’m staring at her until she asks me if anything is wrong.
“No, you’re, it’s perfect.”
A blush blooms on her face, and she looks adorable. God, I seriously want to take her in my arms and kiss her. We step into the elevator, and the silence is deafening. All you can hear is the whirs of mechanics as the car travels down to the lobby.
Outside, the weather is as warm as it was this morning. I ask if she wants to take a cab, and she nods. As the taxi travels to our destination, the warmth from her body heats me from where she sits. I don’t know what to say, so I just look out the window.
