“Really?” I see his face brighten.
“What’s up?”
“I like Megan; she’s a great kisser.”
I’m going to kill my sister if I find out she fucked Lucian. What is with her and messing around with my fiancé’s brothers?
“How do you know that?”
“We messed around a few times.”
“By messing around, do you mean…”
“No. I wanted to, but she said no.”
“Speaking of kissing, can you tell me about Vivian and Noah? He doesn’t tell me much and I’m afraid he’ll think I’m prying.”
“What do you want to know?”
I realize I haven’t given Lucian his beer and take one from the refrigerator, handing him a bottle opener from the drawer.
“What was their relationship like?”
“They were inseparable from the time they began dating. He would talk to her for hours if they couldn’t spend time together. They had sex almost immediately; their chemistry was that strong.”
“How do you know that?”
“My room was next to Noah’s. Our parents had the downstairs master, so they didn’t know what was going on. He used to sneak Vivian into his room, and they would fuck for hours.”
“You listened?”
“How could I not. The moaning was so loud. He would sneak her out of the house just before the sun came up. Her house was even larger than ours, so I doubt her parents knew she was gone.”
“Wow,” I say as I begin chewing on the inside of my cheek.
“I remember we double dated; I was only fourteen at the time. They would spend the whole time kissing. It was so annoying and embarrassing. I knew what was coming that night. I eventually got a pair of earplugs so I could sleep.”
“Did you ever confront Noah about the noise?”
“He told me to mind my own business, and if I told on him, he would beat me within an inch of my life. I knew he was kidding.”
“He would never hurt you.”
Luc nodded. “So, for months, they would fuck almost every night, even if it was bad weather. She only lived one road over.”
“They never got caught?”
“Almost. I was sick, and my mother came up to check on me and heard them. I guess they heard us talking and stopped. She went to check on Noah, and he was fast asleep in bed. The minute she went back downstairs, they started up again.”
Lucian takes a long pull of his beer before he continues.
“His grades started to slip toward the end of the year, and my father got pissed. You know Noah had been accepted to Stanford. Vivian was going to USC and then it all stopped when she found out she was pregnant.”
My mouth dropped open, even though I knew the story.
“Noah was willing to marry her and go to USC, but my father forbade it and said he wasn’t paying for his tuition. Noah said fuck it and enlisted in the Marines. I think the worst thing in his life was to leave Vivian and then have her hate him when he came home. He gave up being a parent because he wanted Vivian to be happy.”
“I feel horrible he had to do that.”
