“Noah, wake up.”

I feel him snuggle deeper into my back, and he mumbles something unintelligible.

“I’m hungry.”

“Can’t we just stay here for the rest of the night?”

“We can if you don’t mind missing your poker game.”

That gets him moving. He lets me go and sits up to look at the time on his phone that he placed on the bedside table.

“It’s early yet.”

“What time?”

“A little after seven.”

“What? I haven’t eaten for hours. I need food.”

“Then food you shall get.”

He rises from the bed and drags me up. I see his eyes travel over my naked form, and I smile. If I wanted to, I could get him to stay in bed all night with me.

“Don’t give me that smug look, Lexi.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Noah slaps at my bare ass, and I yelp in surprise.

“Let’s take a shower, and I’ll show you.”

I back away from him, but he catches my arm and pulls me to him, then lifts me over his shoulder. We spend more than a half-hour in the shower. It starts innocently enough, soaping each other but the stimulation is arousing, and we end up having sex again. Sometimes, I can’t get enough of Noah.

We hurriedly get dressed, and when I open the door, I can smell something cooking. Downstairs someone has been busy on the grill. Everyone is sitting around the granite counter in the kitchen eating steak, burgers and hot dogs along with several salads.

JC looks up at me as he shovels half a burger in his mouth. It’s a look of longing as if he knows what Noah and I have been doing. I look away and grab a paper plate from a stack at the end of the counter. Noah does the same and we load up food on our plates and sit at the dining room table where Hunter and one of his friends were.

“Where were you all day?” Hunter asks.

“Why did you miss us?”

“No, we thought you went home. We need a chance to win our money back from this card shark,” he gestures to Noah.

“Kid, I’m going to take more of your money tonight.”

They argue back and forth while I concentrate on eating. I end up having two burgers, a big mound of potato salad and coleslaw. Brianna comments on how much I can eat, and JC mentions that I always ate a lot. She looks at him funny, and he realizes the mistake he made. He ends up correcting himself by saying because we have lunch together. I guess it’s a good enough explanation because she goes back to drinking her wine.

I’m surprised that Nikki hasn’t said anything, but I guess that JC asked her not to discuss work situations with Brianna. In my opinion he should have told her about us already but it’s not my place.

After dinner, JC turns on the gas-powered fire pit, and we roast marshmallows around it. At nine, Hunter’s buddies come over and all the men except JC head to the pool house to play cards. Brianna and Nikki follow leaving JC and me to clean the kitchen.

I’m not thrilled that there’s a mound of dishes to clean, but I don’t complain. We are staying in this beautiful house for free. JC dries while I wash and though I think it’s a bad idea, we reminisce about this very activity in our first apartment. You could barely move in the tiny space, but we were in love and didn’t care.

“We had some fun times in that apartment, didn’t we?”

“Yes, we did. It was cozy, and it was ours.”

He pours me a glass of white wine, and we sit on the patio in front of the fire pit. Strangely, I’m more comfortable with him than I’ve been in the last week. We joke and laugh. He doesn’t bring up anything about Noah and I staying up in our room all afternoon.
