She smiles against my lips. “It’s good to see you too.” Staring at the woman who has me under a spell, I wonder how I’ll be able to let her go again.

Aspen angles her chin at the sound of a picture being taken. She looks at the person with an awkward expression before turning her gaze to me. Pictures don’t rattle me anymore and I forget how intimidating it might be for someone who has never been in the public eye before.

I loop my arm around her and grab the handle of her rolling luggage. “Sorry. It’s part of being a Ball Boy,” I joke, making her laugh. Damn, how I’ve missed that carefree laugh.

“It’s weird to have a stranger want to take your picture.”

That’s just the beginning.

I lead her out of the airport to the waiting car so she’s not inundated with more awkward exchanges because they’ll come. I’ve never felt the need to protect someone. Before I didn’t give a shit. It comes with being with me.

But I’d like her to leave here with her innocence in place. The last thing I want is for her to regret coming.

Once inside the warm town car, she slides next to me, her body shivering. “Ryker, it’s so co—” she stops mid-sentence once we roll out of the garage and light from a cloudy sky filters into the car. Her eyes widen to the size of saucers as she peers out the window. “What is that?”

Large white flakes dump out of the sky. My lips crack into a smile at the amazement in her expression. “Whiskey, that’s snow.” She covers her mouth and tears pool in her eyes. She leans over me to get a better view.

“It’s gorgeous.” It’s weird she didn’t even know what snow looked like. “You told me New York City was ugly.”

“I didn’t say that exactly. I said compared to Bora Bora, it’s ugly.” Driving over the George Washington Bridge into the city, I try to recall the first time I came to the city. Was I in this much awe?

“It’s not.” She beams. “It’s a different beautiful.” So are you. She turns her attention back to me. “Thank you. For bringing me here.”

My eyes tangle with hers for a silent beat. I wrap an errant hair that’s fallen out of her bun behind her ear and she closes her eyes at my touch. Her reactions to the simplest gestures spikes a buzz inside me. A quick glance out the window, I see we’re getting close to my condo.

“Are you tired from the flight?”

Her body relaxes in my arms. I can see the fatigue in her face. “A little. I need a shower though.”

I hum, moving closer to her and nibbling her ear. “Already want me naked, huh?”

“Well, I know how much you enjoy it. Being naked and all.”

“Just when you’re looking,” I say, winking.

The fire crackles near our feet. Once she met the warmth of the fireplace, she wasn’t moving. So, I brought the bed to her. Her laugh echoed throughout the penthouse as I dragged my mattress into the living room.

She snuggles into my side, tugging the down comforter over us so chilly air can’t get in. “I can’t believe you brought this in here.” My cock jumps to attention as she rubs her leg between mine.

“I make sure all my guests feel comfortable.”

She pushes up on her elbow and cocks her head to the side. “Do you entertain guests often?”

I toss her under me, silky brown locks frame her beautiful face. “Only the ones with strange accents who can move their hips at supersonic speed.”

She wrinkles her freckled nose, curling her fingers around my neck. “Wow. That sounds like an interesting guest.”

“You should see how she rides my dick.” She snorts out loud at my dirty words and her face blushes under her tan. “But you’ll have to wait on that.” I kiss her forehead and she looks up through long lashes. “Having you right here is enough for now. Sleep.”

Her breaths slow. As she sleeps, a soft hum vibrates against my arm and I wonder if she’s dreaming of me. Has she been able to move past our time together? Because this last month she has lived behind my closed eyes. I couldn’t have evicted her if I tried.

“I hope you don’t mind, I planned dinner.”

She pulls one of my team sweatshirts over her head. It swallows her, hanging above her knees, but it’s sexy as hell seeing her in it. Flipping her brown hair out from under it, her lips quirk up.

“Not at all.” She glances down at the oversized sweatshirt and holds her arms out. “I guess I should change.”

“Um, no you’re not. I like you in my shirt.” She snickers as I draw her to me. I can’t stop touching her. “We’re having dinner here. And… my best friend and his wife are coming.” I sigh with the last part. They invited themselves, but I could have said no. Hindsight, I should have. Way to overwhelm her, Ryker.
