Page 151 of Knot Her Fight

We should talk.

Beside me, Spencer sighs, leaning his head back on the edge of the nest and shutting his eyes. Jonah’s eyes snap open right away, proving he really wasn’t asleep.

And Avery is the first one to complain, burying his head between two of Serena’s nest cushions with a grumble. “Do we have to?”

I’m about to say, “yes”; because we have to figure out what we’re going to tell Serena when she wakes up. Which will be soon, apparently.

I’ve spent a long time trying to shoulder everything for all of us, but we clearly work better as a unit. They deserve a say in how we move forward here. And I’m grateful as hell not to be in this alone.

I open my mouth, but urgency suddenly flares through the bond. We all sit up, looking at each other for an explanation.

Was that?—

Are you?—

No, it wasn’t?—

Serena.

We think it at the same time, all four of us turning to the little omega bundled up between Jonah and Ave. A moment ago, her beautiful features were smooth. Now, they’re pinched, reflecting the pain that rips at her lower abdomen as a sharp burst of perfume fills the air.

Our pack moves as one, closing in on her. Jonah starts up his deep purr, pushing against her back as Ave cups her face, slowly kissing her awake.

“Time for another knot, gorgeous,” he whispers. Serena whimpers, pressing closer to him.

“She’s exhausted. The pain should be subsiding by now.” Spencer frowns as he checks her temperature, tutting at the thermometer. “She’s cooler but not enough to break the heat.”

I’d normally feel a jag of alarm, but the bent of his thoughts stays calm, so I do, too. “Does that happen?”

He nods, quirking his lips to the side. “She might need us to try something new. Sometimes, toward the end of a heat, especially if it’s the first one an omega’s had with mates, their instincts are reluctant to let go. A big shock to their systems can be effective in breaking that grasp.”

There’s no time for me to wonder what he’s talking about, because he instantly shoots all of us a mental image of the exact configuration that immediately came to his mind.

Jonah looses a low growl of approval, but Ave groans. “Oh God.”

And Spencer actually laughs. “I’ll direct, of course.” He shoots me a customary nod of deference. “If you’re good with that, Tris.”

Jonah snorts a smirk over Serena’s dark head. “You’ll be a bit busy, alpha.”

Yeah, no shit.

Serena starts to whine, the sound much softer than it was at the beginning of her heat. It has something to do with how tired she is, but more to do with how safe she feels. She knows she barely has to make a sound, and we’ll all trip over ourselves to get to her.

My spoiled baby girl.

She’s perfect.

Which only makes what I’m about to do all the better. I raise a brow at Avery as his inked-up body slinks over. “Front or back?”

He cocks a glower. “You have to ask?”

He has a point. I don’t think there’s been a single time he’s missed the opportunity to take our omega while she presented or hold her from behind while the rest of us worked.

I move to lie on my back as Jonah bundles Serena into his chest, purring louder and kissing her forehead before he carries her over. “Who’s going to knot her?” he asks, being a shit-stirrer.

Avery smiles menacingly. “Whoever lasts the longest.”

Jonah gently places Serena on top of me, her breasts rubbing against my chest hair as she moans and rocks against me. “Hi, baby,” I whisper. “We have a treat for you.”
