My cock twitches. I blow out a calming breath. “Mmhmm?”

She lifts her listless hand to touch my cheek. “Thank you,” she whispers, her eyes fluttering closed. “For teaching me. I didn’t know how to do this before I met you.”

My lips skim her brow. “Do what, sweetheart? Your heat?”

She fights her heavy eyelids long enough to pin me with a look of utter sincerity. “No,” she murmurs. “This. Us. All of us… Before I found you guys, I didn’t have anyone to teach me, so I never learned… how to love someone.” Her eyes shine. “I learned from watching you.”

The gravity of her words hits me square in the chest. The bridge of my nose stings, emotion rushing to fill my throat. “Me?”

She nods, the motion lazy. “Mmhmm. The way you listen. How well you know each of us and keep tabs on the things that are important to everyone. You’re the very best teacher for this.”

I can barely speak. “Meg…”

She tucks her face against my neck again. Her voice is soft, but firm. “I love you, Archer. So much. More than I ever thought I could.”

Because I taught her.

Me.

Bone-deep want fills my body. The need to bite her, claim her, make her mine in every possible way. My muscles bunch, rebelling against my restraint.

She feels them and shifts against me, her perfume rising. The next time our eyes meet, hers are slightly less clear. “I want the bonds, Alpha,” she breathes. “Please?”

I swallow past my thick throat, banishing the sting of tears from my eyes. My arms squeeze her closer. “Okay, sweetheart. You’ll have them. I promise.”

She sighs, the sound weary but content. “Good. Can we get in my nest now?”

My heart lurches. Pride and joy swell through me. She’s never asked for her nest, even when she needed it. Hell, she’s never so much as called it her nest.

“Of course we can.”

A cramp takes hold of her. She winces, covering her abdomen with her hands. “I want all four of you,” she whimpers. “It hurts, Alpha.”

In a flash, I have her out of the tub and dry, wrapping my own towel around my hips. We’re going into the nest. “I’m going to make it better, omega.”

My skin is swarming.

No, I can’t explain what I mean by that. But trust me, it makes sense, somehow.

Every movement is pleasure and pain. Fire snaps over my body, burning down to my nerves, lighting each one up like a Roman candle.

I hate how aware I am.

My quiet alpha explained that it’s the final burst of lucidity before the heat pulls me under. It won’t end until they’re all here with me. He says they’re coming as fast as they can.

I know I’m in some sort of half-haze because I can’t remember anyone’s names. Just their faces, their scents, and the way need bursts through my body at the thought of them.

I’m myself, but I’m also not. When the quiet alpha sets me in front of my nest, I walk right in. I can’t seem to recall why I haven’t done so all along. Whatever the reason was, I need to let it go.

My Omega is adamant about that.

The door to the nest swings open. I hear a sharp inhale, smell the way ginger and bourbon swell to spice the air. When I reach back, a large, warm hand engulfs mine.

“Omega,” the alpha says, reverent. “Your nest is a dream. I love it.”
