I carried her to the shower, where I washed her before making love to her with my mouth. I may not be able to express what I was feeling, but I could show her how I felt with my cock and my tongue.

After we ate breakfast, I dropped her off at her shop, telling her to be careful before kissing her. She practically bounded out of my car and over to her door. After unlocking it, she turned to blow me a kiss.

Unable to stop the smile from covering my face, I waved, then pulled away when she was safely inside.

I didn’t like leaving her alone, not when we hadn’t yet discovered the culprit. I hoped, for her sake, we were getting closer, and that Corey was the one. So far, this guy had only caused property damage, unless he was responsible for the break-ins, too.

Dexter called. “Last night, there was a break-in at the Spice & Tea Shoppe.”

“Are you there now?”

“Yeah, we’re investigating.”

“I’m on my way.” Was this related to the graffiti? My gut was saying it was different, but the coincidence was too much to ignore.

Why would two people be targeting these stores? None of it made sense.

The shop owner, Hailey, was standing inside, talking to Dexter. Scanning the room, I saw shards of teacups were broken on the floor; the room was filled with the smell of tea leaves that had been scattered everywhere. It would be a lot to clean this up.

“What do you have?”

“Break-in. No cameras. No alarm.”

“I recommended getting an alarm at the Shops on Main meeting. It deters crimes like these.”

Hailey sighed. “It looks like I’ll need to.”

I practically growled at that. “Anything taken?”

“He ransacked the place, destroying items, but nothing was taken as far as I can tell. I don’t have anything valuable in here. I sell tea and spices.”

“We have nothing to go on?” I asked Dexter.

“Hailey had locked up for the night but came back because she forgot her cell phone. She saw the broken door; the kid bumped into her and ran away,” Dexter said.

I focused on Hailey. Her fingers fidgeted with the strap of her purse. “You get a good look at him?”

She chewed her bottom lip. “It was quick.”

“You think you can describe him?” I couldn’t believe we’d gotten this close but still didn’t have him in custody.

She swallowed, then nodded. “I think so.”

“What did he look like?”

“Long, sandy blond hair, a dark hoodie, ripped jeans, and high-tops. He was a little taller than me. Young. Maybe high school or a little younger. When he bumped into me, he looked at me. Only for a second. I’m fairly certain I could identify him if I saw him again.”

That was a lot to go on. More than we usually had in a situation like this. “We’ll be in touch. Let us know if you can remember anything else you think would be helpful.”

“I need to inventory everything that was broken for the insurance company.”

“Note if anything was taken, too.”

“Yeah, okay.” Hailey’s hands shook slightly as she brushed her hair out of her face. Her body was still feeling the effects of the adrenaline rush, but her face was determined.

I walked toward my squad car, Dexter following.

“We need to go to the garage. See where Corey was last night,” Dexter said to me.
