Epilogue

4 MONTHS LATER

Relationships are builton trust and they shouldn’t include secrets.

At the beginning, we had a secret and little did I know that Quinn also had one that he was afraid to tell me. A part of me thinks that I hid I was interviewing with other magazines to get him back, but honestly it doesn’t really matter right now.

And now, we are able to be completely open with things happening in and out of our relationship and it feels so great. It was hard keeping such a huge secret, no all of them from my friends, Olivia and Shane, but once we got everything out in the open, they were understanding and happy for me, albeit a bit jealous over the fact that I was the one with Quinn and not Shane.

But in time, we all got used to it.

While they still work for Quinn at World Tripping, when we all hang out, the boss switch is turned off, and he’s just my partner in crime.

I love my new job; it’s afforded me a new learning path that I’m loving. I work with some great designers and not to mention a pretty fabulous staff overall. I’ve even made it a point to regularly meet with the staff who I work with as a lesson from the woman who didn’t remember me.

Quinn and I haven’t moved in together just yet, but that hasn’t stopped him from asking whenever possible. We have yet to find the perfect time to talk to Kady about it, since she’s now getting used to having two homes. It’s been a tough few months, with the new schedule and adjusting. Her mother made her feel guilty for wanting to be with her dad, however we’ve had a lot of conversations to help ease her emotions. And slowly, it’s working. My relationship with her has been great and I’ve enjoyed reliving my childhood through her eyes.

I let myself into Quinn’s condo, put my purse down on the counter, and then slip off my heels with a hiss of satisfaction. I stretch a little bit to get the days stiffness out. I hear the pitter patter of Kady’s feet slapping against the hallway as she rushes into the living room and plasters herself against my hip.

“I wanna show you what I made at school today!” She grabs my hand and leads me over to the dining room table with the contents of her backpack strewn across the entire surface.

She rummages through the papers and then smiles turning to me with a piece of paper hidden behind her tiny little form.

“We were asked to draw pictures of our families. And because I have two homes, because momma and daddy don’t live together anymore, I drawed one for each house. This is this house with our family here.” She proudly holds out the picture and I take it in my shaky hands.

There are three stick figures, one with brown hair, one with yellow hair and then a smaller figure in the middle with brown and yellow mixed together.

I’m speechless.

Tears brim my eyes and I feel Quinn’s arms wrap around my middle before he rests his chin on my shoulder. He kisses my cheek and whispers into my ear, “Pretty cool, huh?”

I nod, unable to form words right now.

“It’s the three of us, we’re getting ready to go to the pet store, see you have your purse and daddy has his wallet.” She points to our free hands with boxes in them.

I clear my throat and blink a few times. “And why would we be going to the pet store?” I ask.

“Cause, we need to get a puppy to make our family even more complete,” she smiles.

“Oh yeah?” I look to her.

“And maybe we can also get a little baby sister too.” She blinks with big eyes up at us.

Quinn steps beside me and squeezes my hip with a light laugh.

Well, it looks like I’m okay to move in.
