Chapter Twenty-Eight

There arethree things in this world that I’m totally okay with.

1. Grilled cheese sandwiches with ketchup rather than tomato soup.

2. Watching re-runs of Grey’s Anatomy

3. The man with his dress shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, who continues to give me a knowing look throughout this entire meeting.

Going to work the day after returning home and sitting in meetings where all I can think about is that my boss, the very man sitting at the head of the table, had me underneath him doing some very wonderful things over the weekend, then again, this morning in the kitchen. That he made me whimper and call out his name, and then we have to come here each day and put on a facade that we aren’t driving one another wild when we are alone together.

Case and point, I’m sitting in a meeting wearing no panties because after I got up this morning only feeling a little bit of jet lag from our flight back home last night, Quinn took advantage of a moment of weakness and ripped them. And all I can think of was his hands running along the inside of my thighs and spreading me open for him as we came together for an early morning quickie.

“Do you think that you are up to this, Ms. Matthews?” Quinn asks prompting me out of my thoughts.

I shake my head, “excuse me, sir?” I focus my gaze on him, with Olivia sitting beside me laughing quietly.

“I hear that you have some ideas about how we can switch things up for copy, could you please prepare something? I also have Mr. Walsh doing the same thing. I would expect for you to both present by Wednesday.” Quinn picks up his notepad and stands without waiting or my reply. “Meeting dismissed.”

I’m not sure how to exactly feel right now. I know that I should be ecstatic because the ideas that I worked so hard on may finally be heard and hopefully used. But I don’t, only because I have started to look at other avenues to expand my career into and I can’t exactly tell Quinn that yet, because I can’t jinx it.

At least not yet. I made a mention of knowing of positions out there, but at that point, I hadn’t started to apply to any.

So, it’s not really like I’ve held back a secret.

Or have I?

Shit! I did exactly what he did!

Quinn stands outside of the door and as I exit, he grabs me by the elbow starling me.

“A moment of your time, please Ms. Matthews?”

“Um, is something wrong?” I ask as a few people continue to walk past.

“My office.” He says sternly.

I follow him across the space and around the corner to his office, feeling uncertain about what exactly is going on.

“Close the door behind you.” He says loudly.

I do as he asks and turn around apprehensively, ready to take on whatever he’s going to throw at me.

He steps in front of me and pushes me back against the oak door. His hand on my shoulder and the curve of my neck as he leans into me.

“Were you thinking about this morning during that meeting?” he says, his tone even yet hushed with his lip’s mere inches away from mine.

“I think that you know what I was thinking,” I reply looking him straight in the eye as I lick my lips, just about lashing out and licking his.

He presses his body against me, and I groan lightly.

“This isn’t something that we should be doing right now.” I whisper.

“Your body is telling me something completely different, in fact, so is your pussy.” He looks down and bites his lower lip as his right hand moves down the side of my body.

“Quinn,” I say in warning.

“Just one little taste,” he drops to his knees and starts to lift up my skirt slowly with my hands falling to his shoulders.
