“Technically you are, that promotion that I was gunning for, that was the supervisory position. And if I would have gotten it, you would be my direct supervisor.”

“How did I not know that you aren’t being supervised?” He rubs his chin.

“I am, Williams structured it so that the production manager oversees my department. But I’ve met with her a handful of times and she doesn’t even approve my timecard.”

“I’ll need to look closer at the org. chart. Either way, I read the rules, there is nothing.”

“Quinn, I love and am honored that you want to share with everyone about our relationship. But I still think that it would be a poor move professionally.”

“I get it. I don’t like it, but I get it.” He says and by the tone of his voice, I hear a little bit of disappointment.

“Thank you.”

“Now, can I touch you? My office door is closed, no one will know whether or not I kissed you in here and right now, I want to kiss you, hell, I want to do more than kiss you, but I will settle for my lips on yours.”

I step into him and he walks us back so he’s sitting on his desk and I’m standing in between his legs.

“You mean a lot to me and I’m sorry that we haven’t had the chance to talk in a deeper manner. I’m new to this whole relationship thing, it’s been awhile since I’ve dated, so you may need to help me out along the way.”

“I get it, I just want us to try.” I loop my arms around his neck as his hands pull me closer to him.

Our lips meet and its heaven. I want to do nothing more than to kiss him, melt into him and be under him. But we’re at work and I just made it apparent that we would need to continue to remain private about our relationship.

I pull back, smile and that’s when I notice a helluva lot of paperwork on his desk with large manila envelopes from the local courthouse.

Before I can ask him about it, a knock sounds on his office door. We push apart quickly, and I take a deep breath to not look frazzled as the door opens.

“I’m sorry to interrupt, but you have a meeting with some new advertisers in a few minutes. I just directed them to the conference room.”

“Thank you.” He says looking around me.

“Well, it looks like we’ll have to cut this short. But are we okay?” He asks looking back to me.

“Yeah, yeah, I think we are.” I nod, replying to him quietly.

“Dinner tonight?” He asks.

“I’m supposed to go out with Shane and Olivia,” I say.

“Ah, okay. See, I could join you if we were public.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” I roll my eyes. “Go do your meeting things, I have stuff to write.”

I turn and walk out of his office, feeling a little more optimistic, yet still I know that there’s something that he isn’t telling me.
