“Are you sure you’re dirty enough?” Tareq teases, running his fingers down my stomach. “Maybe we should work up some more sweat to justify the water usage for a shower.”

His fingers arrive between my legs, and I eagerly part them, moaning as he circles my clit. His tail grabs my thigh and pulls it back, opening my legs further. Tareq kisses my neck again, licking over the bite he left there the day before. Gosh, it feels like a lifetime has passed since then!

“You don’t heal as fast as I do,” he notes, kissing my shoulder, then down my chest all the way to my nipple. “I’ll have to be more careful with my teeth.”

“Oh… I don’t mind,” I rasp between moans. “I mean, as long as you aren’t biting off any important bits, go ahead. I loved it.” I guess I’m kinky like that.

He sucks on my nipple, his fingers teasing my clit. “You are perfect, my Astra,” he whispers. He slides his fingers lower, finding me wet and ready, my pussy already throbbing and aching. “So perfect.”

He’s ready too, his cock is hard as a rock even though he’s already come once. I do appreciate his stamina. “You’re perfect too, my tiger. Come and get me.”

We moan in unison as he enters me, the soft, tiny spikes on his cock adding to the delicious friction.

“Oh, yes. Yes, Tareq, just like that!” I’ve never been much of a talker during sex, but with Tareq, it comes naturally. He groans at my words and picks up speed, slamming into me like his life depends on it.

Even as he fucks me, he keeps a finger on my clit, rubbing it in sync with his motions. It doesn’t take long for me to reach my peak and I scream out, wrapping my arms around him and holding on for dear life. We’re certainly working up a sweat to justify that shower.

Chapter 28

Faelin

I finish checking on the captured Genixarians. It was Tareq’s idea to lock them up in the dark, filthy cells where they’d kept their slaves and it was accepted unanimously. I can’t help but grin at them as they squeamishly hand me their waste buckets, demanding proper accommodations. My joke that we can accommodate them in an airlock doesn’t amuse them, but they stop complaining, at least.

Fucking slavers. Keeping them in cells without proper facilities is still too good for them. They’re lucky that the captain stopped Tareq from strangling every single one of them with his bare hands. They mistreated his female, and that is not something any Syndoran takes lightly. Or any male with a pinch of self-respect, for that matter.

I wish I had a female I could defend. I was never really interested in them before, save for fleeting encounters to quell my basic needs, but seeing how Tareq has changed makes me rethink everything. He seems so happy, so complete, as if he’s finally acquired the vital part of him that’s been missing.

Me? I’m missing a lot of parts. It’s difficult to make a life for yourself while growing up in the slums of Yoka 5. It’s even worse when you’re a hybrid without a family.

I have never belonged anywhere. I never had the right color to fit in, didn’t have horns or scales, not to mention a tail or wings. I’m not a Syndoran, Lakhartan, Karetelan or a member of any of the dozens of known races. I have a bit of everything and a lot of nothing. Until these guys, I didn’t have anyone to call my family. It’s always been just me. I was on my own for so long I forgot how to trust anyone else.

Captain Zarkan rescued me, and since then, he has been more like a father to me than my own bastard sperm donor. I worked hard to become a Voidstalker and when I joined the Nova squad, I gained something much better than a prestigious job. I gained a family. It’s an odd family, but it’s the only one I’ve ever had and I will cherish and protect them forever. Or I thought I would, at least. Now, I don’t know what’s going to happen, and it scares me.

Hearing footsteps behind me, I turn abruptly, my hand going to the handle of my knife. It’s an old instinct but one that kept me alive throughout my childhood.

The person approaching jumps back, sucking in a startled breath. I ease my grip on the knife and smile.

It’s the human. Not Tareq’s female human, but the male one. He seems a little thin but I’ve heard from Omni that he fought well. And he was taking care of the wounded, too. Either of those would earn him my respect. Both at once makes me want to befriend him. It’s a wasted effort, though, because the UGC will wipe his memory once he goes back home to his planet.

Earth. I’ve read up on it and it seems nice. He must be eager to go back there.

He looks anxious now, which is probably my fault. I’m a big guy. Also, I’m red. Humans tend to be different shades of brown, none of them are red like me, so this one is probably scared of me. “Hello,” I say, keeping up a friendly smile. My teeth aren’t as sharp as Tareq or Zarkan’s but I try to hide them behind my lips, anyway.

“Oh, um…” He hesitates. “I don’t understand you, sorry. Do you understand me?”

I nod. Earth languages aren’t a part of the default translator node language pack, but we’ve all had them added to ours to understand Tareq’s new mate. Not that we’ve talked to her much. Tareq dragged her away the second we arrived on the ship and they are yet to leave their room.

“Good,” the human says, giving me a tentative smile. “I’m Nikolai. Can you take me to your leader? I’m not sure if it’s Astra’s stripey guy or the one with the scales, but I would really like to speak to whoever is in charge.”

“Of course. I’m heading to the bridge right now, anyway. We have a meeting, so the captain will surely be there.”

Nikolai blinks at me, confused. Belatedly, I realize he doesn’t understand me, so I just nod and smile, pointing to the corridor ahead.

“Oh, okay. Thank you. I guess I’ll just follow you and hope something doesn’t eat me,” he chuckles.

Smiling, I point at the hammer I have strapped on my back.

“Hmm,” he muses, sparks of amusement dancing in his eyes, “I can’t tell if you’re trying to say that you’ll protect me with that big hammer of yours or smash my head in and eat my corpse.”
