We lock eyes again so that he can see my glare. “You would so be one of those cadets with gross optimism during the Kobayashi Maru test.”
Bafflement is attached to his grunted, “Huh?”

We exchange childish expressions prior to exiting the medical tank area one behind the other.
Why Wes is worried there’s something more here than friendship is truly a Riddler worthy question.
Is Calen distractingly attractive?
Absolutely.
He’s basically a washboard ab ken doll that’s found life in a full-size form.
Do we have anything outside of work in common?
A shit ton.
He swims, he surfs, he loves all things ocean-related, and lives in tank tops outside the office.
He also has a not-so-secret taste for women who typically have more melanin in their skin which would practically make me his dream chick in theory.
But the thing about theories is what happens when you test them.
Observe them in motion.
For instance, he’s never hit on me.
From the moment we met, he could see that – despite the breakup at the time – I was off the market.

Whenever we travel the country for work and have to share a room, whether it’s somewhere far like Hawaii or somewhere closer like South Haven Island he always shares the room with whatever member of security has followed me there, so that I can have the one they’ve rented across the hall and enjoy a bit more privacy.

And I’m pretty sure they prefer bunking together because rather than have to endure Star Trek convos they can enjoy surfer ones.
