His dark hair falls into his eyes, so I sweep it back.

“Stay there,” he says before pressing a kiss to my lips.

“What? Where are you going?”

“Stay,” he barks, leaving the room.

I don’t think I can even sit, let alone get my legs to work. I lie stunned. I can’t believe he’s just walked off. No cuddles after reuniting. No being held in his arms, resting my head on his chest and listening to his deep, steady heartbeat. The one I find so soothing.

I fly to my feet, ignoring the shake in my legs as I wobble over to the bedroom door.

“I swear you better not be checking your phone for work calls.”

He flies through the bedroom door, scooping me up underneath my knees.

“You think I’d do that?” His dark eyes burn into mine ruthlessly as he carries me back over to the bed and places me down onto it. “I told you to stay. Why don’t you ever listen?”

“Get a dog if you want to train someone,” I huff. “Tell me what you were doing?” I gaze up at him as he dusts the back of his knuckles over my cheek.

“Just getting this.”

He lifts his other hand. It’s curled around the base of a glass.

My breath hitches and I snap my eyes back to his.

“You know what to do,” he rasps.

I bite my lower lip and part my thighs so he can place the cool glass against my skin. His pupils dilate as his gaze drops between my legs. I can feel him dripping out of me.

“Ava.” He licks his lips, but his hand holding the glass never moves.

“Jet?”

His eyes are glued to my pussy. Slowly, he runs the fingers of his free hand up my inner thigh, collecting up our mixed cum. He brings it to the soft patch of hair I have and then coats it. “Knew it would look good,” he growls.

I drop my eyes back to the glass, and he tilts it toward me. It’s not empty. His fingers were covering the sides so I couldn’t see before. But now the small piece of white paper inside is visible.

“Take it out.”

I pull it out and unfold it.

“I don’t understand.”

I stare at his handwriting.“IOU everything?”

He moves the glass closer, tipping it toward me. The deep clink inside it makes me dip my eyes back past the rim.

“Take it out,” he says again, his eyes taking on an even deeper intensity.

My breath stalls as I reach in and curl my fingers around the object. I lift it out and he eases it from my shaking fingers.

“I owe you everything, Ava,” he breathes. “A life of adventures, arms to keep you safe, a heart that beats for you, so you’ll never be alone. I’m a man who’s so fucking wrecked because of you that an existence without you would be pointless. These six months apart have been hell.”

He places the ring against the tip of my finger on my left hand.

“Marry me.”

I’m too shocked to speak.
