“I could, sure.”

“He’s, uh, hot for you. I’d bet my left nut and my guys like me with both my nuts.”

That made him laugh, sure, but it also had him thinking. “Ruben, even if you’re right, do you think my uncle would let me be with some biker? My family? Man, I can’t even imagine that. Not at all.”

“You’re, what? Twenty?”

“In less than a month I’ll be twenty-two.”

“God, you’re so young. Still, though, you seem more mature than most guys I know.”

Sel’s memory sang through his mind. Selestino is older than his years…

“Where’d you go?”

“Just something my family always says about me. I’m the oldest kid, I’m smart, I never was into playing all crazy like my siblings.”

“Well, maybe it’s time you play, Sel. Maybe it’s time you play.”

Chapter Nine

After he had dinner with Marius, Ruben, and Dallas, Dallas coming in from a long day, yawning throughout dinner, Sel left their home, hating that he was disappointed he hadn’t gotten to see Indio.

Dex and Prince were at the trailer when he arrived back at Dante’s, and he greeted each with a handshake. “Good to see you both again.”

“Hi,” Prince said, smiling.

Dante, excited, had Sel sit in the chair across from their guests and Dante sat on the arm. “This genius just found out that Alex Brooks has four separate passports, what names they are, and he found out where he got the fake IDs made.”

Sel was shocked. “How?”

Dex, bragging on his man, said, “He figured out a new program that not only taps into border crossing cameras, but all known forgers and their associates. The man has crossed the border seven times since leaving Montana.”

Dante added, “Six crossings from here to Mexico and back.”

“Six? You said there were seven.”

Prince spoke for himself. “The seventh was to Canada. Right up north of here.”

Confused, especially at their happy faces, he asked the group, “Okay, so he crossed there, then went to Mexico? So…he’s in South America?”

“No,” Dex said to him. “The last crossing was to Canada. It was two days ago. Now that we have this software, we will know when he’s back in the country and possibly coming this way. Finally, we know where he is and when.”

Sel wasn’t thrilled that a serial killer was so close, but he understood their happiness. “We’ll have lookouts all over the place, right?”

“Of course, Sel,” Dante soothed. “And don’t worry. After their meeting with the other clubs tomorrow, you’ll have Bennie and a few of the bikers looking out for you. No arguments!”

For once, he was glad he was overprotected. He thought the killer was long gone, but knowing he was so close, he was suddenly terrified. “No arguments, Uncle. I’m good with it.”

Prince moved over to him, sitting on the other arm and taking his hand. “I’m afraid too. But we’re protected.”

“Does it show?”

“Just a little. You’ll be okay, I promise.”

Dante squeezed his shoulder. “That is a promise from a genius. The best kind.”

“Thanks, but I’ll be okay.” When he thought over the conversation, one part of it struck him. “You said the bikers were going to help watch over me?”
