Marina looked up at me, amusement in her eyes. “She had other business to attend to,” she said casually, stretching her arms.
“Where did she go?”
Did she help her escape?
If she did, I’ll slit her throat.
“I don’t know,” Marina replied bitterly. “Maybe she couldn’t handle the truth about you and your little secrets.”
I slammed my fist onto the table, the wood rattling.
“I invited you here for a reason, Marina,” I snapped, trying to calm down. “But you’re starting to piss me off.”
Marina smirked up at me. “Calm down, Volkie. She had a headache and went back to her room,” she muttered, still sipping whiskey.
A headache?
Is she sick?
“What did you fucking tell her?”
Marina shrugged, setting the bottle down.
“Does it really matter?” she asked, leaning forward. “I could help you relax if you want.”
“Do you know where Vlad’s hiding?” I asked, my gaze unwavering as I studied her.
“Maybe,” she replied with a smirk. “But let’s talk about us first,” she said, reaching for my hand.
I pulled back. “I don’t have time for your fucking games, Marina. If you know something, spill it.”
The room was dim as hell, lit only by a few flickering candles on the table, casting shadows everywhere.
She sighed dramatically.
“We used to have a blast, Volk,” she said, running her fingers along her curves. “Don’t you miss me?”
I remained silent.
Marina rose from her seat and sauntered over to me, placing her hands on my chest.
I resisted the urge to shove her aside, knowing I needed the intel she held.
“Come on, Volk,” she whispered seductively. “Don’t be like that. I know you miss me.”
“I don’t.”
Her hands lingered on my chest as she leaned in, her lips grazing my neck.
“If you wanna know where Vlad is,” she breathed against my skin, “you’ll have to give me something in return.”
Of course.
“I’m not gonna fuck you, Marina.”
“Why is Sofiya here?” she said, ignoring me.
My patience dwindled. “Cut the crap. You know why she’s here.”
