It had been even harder to be in the same room with her, watching her fidget about and pretending to be engrossed in my palmtop when in truth the words and images on it blurred in my mind, because all my blood had rushed into my loins.

I had already admitted to myself that she wasn't like Anna. I would never allow her to leave me. I just wasn't sure yet why. Wasn't I supposed to have been dumbstruck the moment I laid eyes on her if she was my querilly?

Part of me still waited for this discovery, for the moment I would be overwhelmed by the realization that this was what she was to me. Another part was just overjoyed to hold her, kiss her and know that she wanted me as badly as I her. To snyg with it, querilly or not, I wanted her more than I had ever desired another seffy before.

Her palms still lay flat against my chest, pressed against me, as if trying to push me away, even though her tongue played with mine, and low sounds of happiness escaped her.

I broke our kiss, needing to know, "What do you want, Niara?"

"Vissigroth, we have arrived." My captain announced and I cursed.

Niara looked relieved, being spared an answer, for now, and I on how I would react to her answer. I shouldn't ask her questions I'm not sure of her answer of, especially when I’m not going to like her answer, I counseled myself, because I didn't know what I would do if she refused me.

I wouldn't force myself upon her, but I also couldn't let her go.

Thankfully this time we were both spared and I ordered Kyle to take her up to the other vissies as soon as I spotted my second in command on the pier.

I shook my head to clear it. I needed to focus on the meeting with the other vissigroths to decide how our plan of action should be altered now that the Chrymphten were aware that I knew about their plans.

I didn't think they suspected I had called more than half of the Leandar fleet in, but also couldn't count on it being a surprise any longer.

"My scouts have picked up a large fleet by the Krohn system," Darryck reported once I opened the meeting and filled them in on Nathan's failure.

"Mine also by the Koto planet." Treyton added.

On a large screen the Leandar galaxy appeared and I zoomed in on Oceanus. To the right was the Krohn system, more to the left the planet we called Koto, which I had been considering of incorporating into my domain, since it was habitable. It was also mostly desert, which was a stark contrast to our oceanic way of life and the reason I hadn't done so. Sirens were our only female companions on Oceanus and they would not survive Koto. Building a settlement of only males had not appealed to me, although the thought that Leandar seffies might find Koto more pleasing then Oceanus had crossed my mind.

"Looks like they might plan a two way attack then," Darryck concluded.

Sounds of agreement followed his statement. I stared into the faces of the other vissigroths and noticed we were united in that assumption.

"How about I divide my fleet and come up behind them," Duncayn suggested. "Why wait for them to attack us?"

More grumbles of agreement rang out and I liked his idea. "It's better than waiting for them," I concurred, warming up to the idea.

"How soon can you get your fleet ready?" I asked Duncayn.

"I can have them safely behind the enemy forces within two days," Duncayn promised.

Wyltham the Vissigroth of Syalm nudged Vissigroth Claymor of Falls, "We can take our fleets and flank them."

As I rubbed my chin thoughtfully, I scanned the war room and saw only nods of agreement on the faces around me. Zyn, this would work. A grin spread across my lips and I raised my cup, "To victory."

"To victory!" the mantra was picked up as well as the cups and we toasted.

I wasn't really in the mood to attend another feast. This time to honor the three vissigroths who had already left for some kind of surprise attack. Myles hadn't fully included me into his plans, but it didn't matter. A battle was imminent and the Leandars were looking forward to it.

"Don't look so gloom, it's in their nature," Thalia said, placing her hand on my shoulder.

Since I wasn't worried about Myles like she obviously was about Darryck—I wasn't, dammit—I didn't reply.

"Most of the fighting will take place in space for a change," Kyra added, looking more frazzled than I had ever seen her.

"Duncayn didn't allow you to go?" Thalia observed.

"I'm pregnant," Kyra said, touching her stomach.

"Ahh," Saskia and Thalia nodded in unison as if that explained everything, which I supposed it did. Vissigroths held absolute power, had only to answer their susserayn and us women… we were beholden to them. Well, Kyra, Saskia and Thalia were, as their vissies.
