Because my baby was smart like that.

"Remember how I said my new security firm would have a cyber crimes division?" I asked. "Well, part of that is helping people protect their computers from being hacked."

"This idiot doesn't even know the word cyber security. He's got an open IP address with no firewall. I was able to hack right in. It's all here. Banking records, emails, contracts. The works."

"What does it mean?" Jake asked.

"It means that my grandfather is trying to run his own little kingdom and he is not reporting to the real king."

"Still confused," Jake said. "Can you speak English?"

"Remember Darla and those little trackers of yours?"

Jake grimaced. "I do."

I pointed to the laptop screen. "It's right here, everything he planned to do with those trackers." And there was so much more. "I get that not everything has to be reported as long as the quarterly donations are made, but according to these records, he is requiring far more from those under him than he is reporting to Spain. Millions of dollars."

I glanced at Marcus. "I get that we are allowed to make our own money as long as we send in our donations, but he's killing people that don't meet his demands, people that have nothing to do with the family business."

Marcus’s brow flickered, his eyebrows drawing down over his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"There's an email here where he gave orders to his men to take out an entire family when they refused to sell him some land he wanted because he wanted to build a private golf course, all twenty-six members including three children under the age of six." Delancy snickered as he tapped a few buttons on his laptop. "He tried to delete the email, but nothing is ever truly deleted."

"If word of that ever gets to the authorities," I said, "it could easily come back on Spain. Taking out an entire family is not good business, especially if children are involved. If you are just taking out one guy, that is one thing, but the authorities won't look the other way on something like that, not even in Columbia."

"And if he gives Brooklyn to Dante like he wants to," Jake said, "do you think it's going to be any better? Dante was raised with his grandfather's ideals. He wouldn't hesitate to take out an entire family to get what he wants."

"And he's just egotistical enough to believe he won't be caught," I added. "Dante is my grandfather's golden boy. He has never been denied anything in his life. He has no concept of right or wrong or even being responsible for his actions because he has never had to."

"I'll admit I haven't been in business as long as you probably have," Jake said, "and we are definitely not in the same field, but that doesn't seem like a very good business practice to me."

"It's not," Marcus said with a grim expression. "Gone are the days when entire families were taken out. It brings too much attention to the organization."

"I can print you out a list of all of this stuff if you want it."

"Can you send me everything?" Marcus asked. "I need proof of what he is doing."

"I can," Delancy replied, "but you will need a pretty big hard drive if you want me to send all of it to you."

"Do you have a spare hard drive, querido?" I asked. "It might be easier to load it onto a hard drive and let Marcus take it home with him. I'm sure he has someone back in Spain that can install it for him."

"I do," Marcus admitted. "Although he may not be as good as your husband says you are."

"You call always call me if you run into any problems. I'm sure I can talk you through whatever the issue is."

Marcus smiled at him as if indulging an excited child. "I just might do that."

I stepped over to stand behind Delancy's chair and settled my hands on his shoulders. "We all need some rest after the events of the evening. I'll make sure Delancy has that hard drive ready for you in the morning."

Delancy smiled as he glanced up at me and nodded. "I can have it done by then."

I knew he could.

"In the meantime, if any of you want to stay the night, our cook is serving up some food in the dining room and there will be guest rooms available for you to rest."

Marcus and Delancy's grandfather decided they would be staying and left to go to the dining room.

"I best be heading home. Jai gets snarly if I don't sleep in the same bed with him every night," Jake said. "Call me if you need me."
