I would have preferred for Hugo to stay with me, but getting Delancy out of the club unseen seemed more important at the moment. He obviously needed a keeper, and I was just the man for the job.

I walked into the VIP lounge behind a few other men and skirted past them to make my way to my drink. I might not want Delancy to have alcohol, but I needed a drink.

"Alejandro Díaz," Jake said, using the formal form of my name. "This is Vinnie Borelli from Manhattan."

Damn. Guess the meeting was starting.

I walked over and shook the man's hand. "Thank you for coming, Mr. Borelli."

"Please, call me Vinnie," the man replied.

I gave him a nod of acknowledgement. "Call me Alejandro."

"As I was telling you," Jake said, "Alejandro attended the university with us. He went back to Columbia about a decade ago and we've kept in touch mostly through phone calls since then. I was actually a bit surprised when he called me to tell me he was coming back to town."

Vinnie glanced at me, inquiry clear in his gaze. "Is it true you are taking over Brooklyn for Martinez?"

"If all goes well, yes." That was the plan anyway. "There are a few requirements for me retaining control of Brooklyn, but I don't think they will be hard to fulfill."

I hoped not at least.

Vinnie shot Jake a quick look. "Jake said you might need our help?"

"Why don't we wait until Dmitri joins us before we get into that," Jake said. "Explaining this more than once would be a pain in the ass."

Vinnie chuckled. "Fair enough."

"Did Nicky come with you?" Jake asked.

"He did," Vinnie replied as he walked over to the window overlooking the dance floor. "He's down there with the others."

And an army of guards, I'm sure.

"Excuse the intrusion."

I smiled when I turned toward the person that had spoken and recognized Miles Cranston, one of my frat brothers. I did not recognize the man glued to his side.

"Miles, it's good to see you," I said as I walked toward the two men. Granted it had just been a few hours since I had seen him last, but it was still good to see him.

I had missed all of my frat brothers.

"Alejandro." Miles's smile softened when he looked at the man at his side. "This is my husband, Sam. Sam, this is Alejandro Díaz, one of my frat brothers."

Sky blue eyes peaked up at me before darting away. "Hello." His greeting was soft, almost a whisper.

He was shy. I could instantly see that. Knowing of Miles's past, this young man fit him very well. Sam was a gentle soul and Miles was a silent warrior. They looked good together.

I purposely turned my attention back to Miles. "Is Lucas coming?"

"He's already here," Miles replied. "He's downstairs talking with Syros and Parker. He'll be up in a minute."

"I believe we are meeting in Dmitri's office," Jake said. "It's a little smaller, but more private and I believe this conversation needs to happen in private."

I waved a hand toward the entry area. "Lead the way."

The quicker we got this done, the quicker I could start making plans.

Ten minutes later, I sat in the office of Dmitri Petrov with a room full of people. Half of them I knew, half of them I did not. Almost all of them gave off an aura of danger.
