I resisted rolling my eyes at him. The man didn’t know how to let loose, which didn’t make any sense since he was downright crazy when he met Juliette.

“I’m aware.”

“Then what the fuck are you doing?”

I had no response for him, so I made up some shit. “Playing my part.”

His nostrils flared in annoyance, but he didn’t get a chance to speak because Juliette walked up, saving my ass from an hour-long lecture.

“Brock, you look very handsome tonight.”

Her smile could brighten anyone’s day. Not that I was into Juliette, but she was the sweetest, feistiest woman I knew. She threw Lock on his ass a few times, and I was all for that.

“Why, thank you. I dressed myself.” I shot her a grin, which earned me a deadly scowl from Lock. “Would you relax? I’m not hitting on your wife.”

“So, Jerrod tells me you’re sleeping with your client,” Juliette said, taking a sip of her champagne. “Sounds like that runs in the company.”

“Hey, I was doing my job,” Lock retorted.

“Yes, it was necessary for you to sleep with me in order for the photo shoot to work,” she grinned.

“That’s what I keep saying!”

“Hey,” Lock snapped. “We were putting on a show. The chemistry had to work for us to…model and…make it believable.”

I widened my eyes comically as I nodded. “Right! I hear that’s what all the models are doing these days. You know, for the shoot. To make it believable,” I smirked at him.

“That’s not what I meant.”

“Hey, I totally get it. I’m supposed to be dating Wren, and it has to be believable. We all have our crosses to bear.”

“It’s not the same.”

“It’s exactly the same.”

“It’s not even close.”

“It’s—”

“Boys,” Juliette interrupted, smiling at both of us tensely. “You’re drawing an audience.”

With a final glare, Lock wrapped his arm around Juliette’s waist and was about to lead her away when Wren walked up beside me, her nose turned up as she took in Lock’s long hair pulled back in a bun.

“Brock, you’re supposed to stay beside me,” Wren said tersely. “This is a gala and—” She stopped and turned her attention to Juliette. “You look familiar.”

“I’ve just got one of those faces,” Juliette smiled.

“Actually,” Lock grinned. “She’s my wife. Juliette Cassinelli.”

Wren’s jaw dropped, but I wasn’t sure if it was because Lock got a woman like Juliette or because she was shocked to meet her. “I saw your Temptation campaign. It was…heated,” she said, eyeing Lock differently now.

I grabbed her around the waist and tugged her to my side. “Just remember that you’re here with me.”

“And I’m married,” Lock reminded her.

“No, you misunderstand. I just…”

“You’re shocked that a woman like Juliette would fall for a grunt like me.”
