“It’s a lot of work to look this pretty.”

“I find that hard to believe.” Ryan laughed and grinned up at him adoringly, stroking one of his horns. “Even if you are sacrificing virgins or whatever, how are you paying some random boy ten grand to spend the night with you.”

“I’ve collected many valuable assets and done quite well for myself. I’m also a champion ping pong player. Won lots of flashy prizes.”

“Oh yeah? We’ll have to play sometime.”

Ormenus kissed Ryan’s hair and hugged him close. The blankets shifted, draping over them without Ormenus lifting a finger. “Go to sleep now, sweetheart. You’ve earned yourself a rest.”

“Sleep? What’s that?”

“It’s that thing you do after you’ve gotten your brains fucked out all night.”

“I guess…” Ryan shook his head. “You know, I do this a lot. You’re a catch. You wouldn’t have to pay me if we’d met any other way.”

“That’s very sweet of you, but how about you just let me pay you, hmm?” Ormenus rubbed Ryan’s arm. “I want to spoil you. I enjoy it.”

“Oh, I’ll let you pay me.” Ryan grinned. “Just saying… You’re funny, hot, and have a dick like I’ve never seen. You could just date.” He glanced at Ormenus’s horns. “You know, as a human.”

“Dating is complicated.” Ormenus frowned. “This is easy. Everybody is happy. No meeting parents, no anniversaries, nice and simple.”

“I’m not inviting you to meet mine regardless.”

“Why not? I’m great with parents. As you know, I’m quite charming.”

“Incredibly charming,” Ryan agreed sincerely.

“Go to sleep, sweetheart.” Ormenus closed his eyes. “I may want to fuck you once more in the morning before you go.”

Ryan grinned. “I’m at your service, sir.”

“Good boy,” Ormenus grumbled, his body relaxing and his breathing soon slowing.

Ryan watched him, and he wondered if Ormenus truly needed to sleep, whatever he was. He lifted his head to kiss Ormenus’s cheek and then cuddled in closer. There was a new warmth in his chest, and he wasn’t sure why.

He’d never spent the night with one of his clients before—dead or alive.

He… didn’t mind it.

Five

Ryan slept for a few hours, and it was the best sleep he’d had in ages. He had been completely exhausted and Ormenus made him feel safe in a way he didn’t quite understand. He didn’t wake up once thinking he heard his sister crying or to check the door. He just slept and it was wonderful.

When he woke up, he was quite refreshed despite the dull ache lingering in his body. Ormenus was human once more and being in his arms was nice, but…

Ryan knew he couldn’t stay here.

He had to get home.

He had to get back to his sister, Bonnie.

Although Ryan did enjoy his very unique extracurriculars to satisfy his darker urges, he still had a responsibility waiting for him at home who needed his attention and care. She sure as fuck wasn’t going to get that from their piece of shit father.

That’s where Ryan came in.

He made sure Bonnie had everything she needed for school, toys and new clothes when he could afford them, and above all else, he did his best to keep her safe.

Granted, he couldn’t do that when he wasn’t there.
