Chapter Thirty-Eight

Madison

The kitchen in our room was the most gorgeous kitchen I had ever been in, fully equipped with everything I needed in shining steel and gleaming marble. As the sun set, casting its glow over the kitchen, it felt like heaven. I got to work with a tune in my heart, and when I looked up searching for him, I saw him walking across the deck on the phone as he checked up on New York.

In a way, all of this felt surreal, and I guessed it was, so I was going to enjoy it to the fullest. But then, as I prepared the crusts of the cheesecake with the crackers, I couldn't help but feel slightly sad. We claimed we were simply platonic and having fun, but my heart was beginning to believe that less and less, especially with the way we were with each other at the market. We were so affectionate, teasing and playing with each other, sharing pork skewers and finishing each other's cold salad. I was so happy; it was to the hint of delusions.

Sighing, I continued with my baking and pressed the crust into the baking dish. Afterwards, I got started on the filling with the cream cheese and retrieved the limes that we had purchased. All in all, it was quite quick for me to get the cake made, and then it was in the oven. He wandered in just then, and I didn’t even realize that he was staring at me because I was waiting by the oven and scrolling through my phone to go through Emma's assignments. I was scrolling through her conversations with her suppliers so I could know how to help her find someone else and the requirements that were needed. However, I was so sure of this, but the way things were going right now between myself and Hunter, it was as though we would only be able to focus on this when we returned to Bangkok. Still, and when he was completely distracted, I promised myself that I would slowly chip away at her work.

“Speaking to family?” he asked, and I looked up then. He was finished with his phone so, I quickly checked the cake and found that it would be done soon, then turned to walk towards him.

Just as I arrived, however, he suddenly picked me up and set me down on the counter. My heart jumped once again with excitement, but before I could even think of getting down, he was already kissing me out of my mind. I submitted completely to it, and by the time I pulled away, I had completely forgotten about my cake in the oven.

“So...” he said. “How about your pay increase interview?” he asked, and I quickly pushed him away before I got completely distracted.

“Cheesecake first,” I said. “I put a lot of effort into it.”

I headed over to the oven and retrieved it, then set it on the table. It looked absolutely wonderful, and when I turned to him, I could see that he was impressed as well. I cut a piece for us, grabbed two forks, and right then, standing in the kitchen, we both devoured that first piece. He instantly reached for a second, and once again, we shared it on the same plate, standing.

“Okay, we need to put a pause on the cheesecake. I have an interview before I completely change my mind,” he said, and my heart jumped.

“Yes, Sir,” I replied, and just as I set my fork down, he lifted me clear off the ground and carried me off to bed. I squealed in excitement as he tossed me onto it, and then he began to strip.

Grabbing the edges of my dress, I pulled it over my head, and in no time, I was completely naked. He pounced on top of me, and as his entire naked body pressed against mine, I understood that I was in heaven. He was hard and warm everywhere, and the sweetness of his lips and touch inside of me was incomparable.

That night, I lost my mind several times, and by the time we were returning back to Bangkok the day afterwards, I was still dreaming about it.

“What?”

I glanced at the message and sent my response to Emma.

“This is the topic he’s giving the lecture on.”

“Wow, that sounds quite boring.”

“It is,” I replied with a smile as I reviewed my report.

“Shouldn’t you be up there on stage helping him navigate through his notes?” she asked. “And even if you didn’t have to, wouldn’t you just like to be close to him, hehe?”

This made me smile, and I couldn’t help but shake my head because no matter how much I tried to ignore her, I couldn't stop myself from talking to her.

“He’s fine. He told me not to bother; he knows how to use a clicker. He wasn’t given this company; he built it himself, and he’s had to present quite a number of slides on his own over the years to investors from all over the world.”

“Interesting,” she said while I returned to work.

I had to send the updated report on the breach and everything that had happened along the way to the entire team. It was due the previous night, and my plan had to finally get out of bed with Hunter and find a desk to work at, but several times I had tried to get up and his arm around my body pressed me right back down to the mattress. Just thinking about it now and watching him up on stage made butterflies fill my stomach.

When we were like this together, it was so hard for me to remember that he was my boss. But I couldn't forget. Forgetting was detrimental to my job, so I sighed and continued my work.

“Have you found a dress yet?” Emma's message popped up on my screen once again.
