Chapter Thirty-Five

Hunter

Things were intensifying and escalating between us. Fast. I knew it and she knew it as well. She, however, was under the impression that I was opposed to things truly getting serious between us. But I wasn’t, at all.

Up till now, I hadn’t met anyone I was even remotely interested in going far with, but as I watched her descend the plane and immediately greet the driver on my behalf to ensure that everything for our drive to the resort was put in place, I couldn't stop the warmth I had for her from intensifying in my heart.

I headed over to the waiting car and took my seat in the back. Then I shut my eyes and tried to imagine if I had ever felt this way with anyone else before. So safe, so enthralled, so confident.

Soon, as she got in as well and her scent washed over me, I realized that I hadn’t at all. And so, I couldn't stop myself from opening my eyes and watching her.

She smiled at me, but I could tell just how shy she had become. We rode in silence, and I shut my eyes again, trying to get some sleep. The previous night I had barely been able to get any, and it had astounded me because never in my life had I lost sleep over any woman. She was opening up a part of me that I didn’t even know I had, and I wasn’t going to shy away from it. My suspicion, though, was that she would, and so even though all I wanted was to hold her hand, I refrained.

There was something, though, I couldn't stand, and this I only discovered when we arrived at the resort, and she brought our keys over.

“Different rooms?” I asked, and she nodded, amused.

“Of course. We weren’t sleeping together when I made the reservations. In fact, we weren’t even sleeping together up till just a few days ago.”

“But now we are,” I said and stared at her.

She could read my mind. She had to be able to, or else I was going to turn vengefully.

“Yeah, Sir,” she said, barely able to control her laughter, and then she turned around and returned to the front desk. It took a while, but I had emails to catch up on, and waited for her return.

“The best room,” she held up the key card. “For the both of us.”

Rather than take the key from her like she had expected, I leaned forward and kissed her. In a way, it felt like we were on our honeymoon. I never thought I would think of the term regarding me, but here we were all of a sudden, and I planned to enjoy every bit of it.

We were right by the beach, and it was breathtaking. It was a secluded beach. When I saw the huge infinity pool in our room, I decided that that was what I wanted to test out first. Instantly, as I set the bags down, I turned to her.

“Fancy a swim?” I asked.

“Do you know how to swim?”

“Um... yes, I do, but I think we should shower first.”

“Why?” I asked. “It’s just us.”

I didn’t give her a chance to protest. I didn’t even give her the chance to take her clothes off. I lifted her onto my shoulders, and she squealed in excitement.

“Do you want something to eat?” I asked, and she shook her head.

“Champagne, and something sweet,” I suggested.

“Put me down so I can make this happen, Sir,” she said, but I shook my head.

I didn’t set her down, though.

“These next two days till we have to go back to Bangkok, you’re not my secretary, agreed?”

She stared at me, and then she nodded.

“Agreed.”

I put her down then and returned to the room. I found the necessary numbers, and a few minutes later had some savory and sweet desserts, along with champagne, headed up to us.

It was getting late, but I loved the ambiance of the entire villa. It was full of activity, but I didn’t quite want to go anywhere just yet. From what she had told me, she had a yacht docked somewhere waiting for us, but I wanted to enjoy the room with her first, so I headed over to the pool.
