Mia gapes at me in shock and disbelief. I go on, “No woman has touched me with such intensity in a long time. It could have happened. Girls throw themselves at us once they know who we are, but I never wanted to cheat on Amanda. And it doesn’t make sense if I don’t care about the lady I’m with.”

I can’t resist and touch her cheek with my fingertips. Mia looks at me with a mix of hope and uncertainty.

I take a bold step forward and she wraps her arms around my neck, standing on her toes to kiss me.

Her kiss is hungry, and I return it with the same intensity, both of us gasping for breath.

I take her by the waist, pulling her close. Her entire body tenses for a moment, then she relaxes into my arms. Our hearts beat wildly in sync, her chest pressing against mine.

Things stir within me, and I pull back, the taste of her lips lingering. I look into her feverish eyes and ask seductively, “Can we get out of here?”

Mia laughs and steps back, shaking her head. “I’m the last one to leave.”

“Workaholic…” I tease, crossing my arms and clicking my tongue.

“If you’re willing to wait, I’m willing to go anywhere with you, Ethan,” she says, winking at me.

I grin, “Okay.”

“Okay,” she repeats, giving me a peck on the lips before putting her earpiece back in place.

She blows me a kiss and then leaves, already speaking into her earpiece and diving back into her work.

This is going to be the longest night of my life.

Chapter Nine

MIA

His kiss was even better than in my dream.

With a huge grin on my face, I dash through all the floors of the club until the band calls it a night and the lights turn off.

Throughout this time, Ethan stayed in the back of my mind. I’m tired and my body aches, but the thought of literally making my dreams come true is too exhilarating to pass up.

I perform one last check as the cleaners finish and head out. Starting on the first floor and moving up to the terrace, I feel deeply disappointed because I can’t find Ethan anywhere.

Exiting through the front door, I curse him under my breath for his cold feet.

Like brother, like brother.

But then, I hear a whistle and almost get whiplash turning around to look. It’s Ethan, standing just outside the club by a parked red Lamborghini, rolling the keys around his index finger with an air of smugness that makes me want to slap him.

“Thought you were never coming!” he complains, opening the passenger door for me.

“I was actually looking for you,” I say, pausing to admire the luxurious leather interior. “Is this car yours?”

He shrugs. “I have a newer model in the same color. This one is a rental.”

“Like to ride in style, huh?” I scoff, getting into the car.

Ethan shuts my door and walks around to the driver’s seat. It’s nearly 2 AM, and the sky is a deep, inky black dotted with stars and the faint glow of the moon.

“This dashboard looks like a spaceship!” I comment nervously as he starts the car.

The engine roars like a powerful predator, and Ethan pulls away from the curb, maneuvering like a pro. “Is it anything like driving a Formula 1 car?” I ask, amused by his natural ease behind the wheel.

He smiles, pleased by my interest. “The Lambo has a race car pedigree, but it can’t compare to a Formula 1,” Ethan explains confidently. “Formula 1’s are designed to cut through the air with the least resistance. They are much, much faster.”
