“Now, you see why I wanted to talk to Wes?” he asks.

“Well…he may beat you to it.” I wince.

He groans and rubs a hand over his eyes. “You told Raegan?”

“I…yes?” I wince.

“Everything?”

I nod. “I mean, there’s no way to squeeze three years of our relationship into the three minutes we talked, but I gave her the cliff notes.”

He sighs. “Beck is going to chew my ass out for keeping this from him for so long.”

“I’m sorry.” I wince again. “You were staring at me like you wanted to fuck me on top of the table all night, so Raegan asked if I was going to sleep with you and then everything just kind of spilled out.”

“I’m not mad.” He leans forward and presses his lips to mine. “But I think the four of us are going to have a little talk tomorrow morning.”

“So, you really don’t know why I called you?”

“No, and I left Raegan in bed, so this better be some sort of an emergency,” Wes says as he looks at his phone before setting it down on the table.

“Well, I also reluctantly left a woman in bed and I would like to get back to her, so we can make this quick.”

“I assume you slept with Marissa?” he asks.

I nod. “Not for the first time.”

“You’ve slept with her before?” His eyes are wide. “And you didn’t tell me? Also, is that why you haven’t been going out as much as usual?” He takes a sip of his water before pulling a strip of bacon off of his plate. “Before you and Holly divorced? After?” he asks rattling off a series of questions.

“Before and I didn’t tell you because it just got out of control so fast and there’s a lot of layers to this story.”

“Was this before she went to Paris?”

I nod again. “Marissa is the woman I slept with at Owen’s wedding.”

Wes drops the piece of bacon he’s holding and his eyes widen in shock. “No fucking way.” He scratches his jaw before he narrows his eyes at me. “Wait…is that why we hired her?”

I shoot him an incredulous look. “No, dick! That was a very strange coincidence that she did not appreciate.”

“Holy fuck. So, you’ve…”

“Been in love with her ever since? Pretty much.” I lean back in my chair and let out an exhausted sigh of relief to finally be telling Beck about this. “It’s been an interesting three years.”

“Did Holly ever figure it out?”

“Yeah, and that was a mess. I eventually learned that Holly had me followed which is how she initially found out about Marissa. Then, she managed to tap my apartment by slipping something into one of my bags that I took from the house when I moved out. So, Holly learned I was still talking to her and she flew to Paris and confronted her.”

“Wait what? This sounds like a soap opera. What the fuck, man? So were you guys still together while she was in Paris and you were in—”

“No, she ended it and all contact and I went fucking crazy not talking to her at all, but Holly confronting her freaked her out and she told me I had to be completely divorced before we continued and I understood that even though it drove me insane. Then, when she came back, we were going to try again because I was divorced and I went to Marissa’s sister’s engagement party with her, and guess who showed up.”

“Fuck. Are you kidding?” He lets out a laugh and shakes his head. “I’m not laughing because it’s funny, I’m laughing because this is insane.”

“You think? What are the chances? So, naturally, Holly exploded all over Marissa’s mother. So…she doesn’t exactly love me.”

“Wow.” He whistles. “She aired all of your business?”

“That I cheated. Cheated with Marissa. With other women. I did not come out of that party looking good.” I scrub my face thinking about how I’m going to make things right with her parents.
