“Without a doubt, but I trust you. I know what I’m capable of, and it’s better to understand and see what’s coming than to be unaware.”

“Not a bad conclusion.” Daisy was leaning against the door, arms folded.

“So, you all protect us, and in return I protect you.”

I smiled, unable to hide my happiness. “Big, strong fireman, huh?”

“Oh, you know how big I?—”

“Nope, stop that right now.” Daisy’s voice rose, and Easton and I cackled.

“Okay, no more embarrassing the soldier,” I said and faced her. “I have to ask, though.”

“If it’s pervy, you can fuck right off, Prince.”

Easton and I once again were laughing. Who knew Daisy was so funny?

“No, nothing pervy. But when Easton said he dreamed about me, you were…well, I don’t know, what were you?”

She gestured to the chairs. “I think you both should sit down for this.”

“I don’t like the sound of that.” Easton took my hand, and I went with him to the glider.

Daisy shrugged and sat across from us. “You might not, but if I’m right it changes things.”

“Like what?” Easton threaded his fingers through mine and pulled me so close to him our entire sides were touching.

Daisy’s face was placid, not a stitch of emotion.

“Everything.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

Easton

I looked over at Finch, who shrugged, so I knew he had no idea what Daisy was talking about.

“Tell us.”

“I’m sure you have heard the term ‘precognitive’?”

Finch and I nodded.

“Humans have said they have seen things, events that have happened in their dreams and come to fruition.”

“Yeah, but nothing about my dreams were events. Milo and I simply saw Finch in his true form; nothing happened.”

Her face scrunched up before she said, “But it did. Your dream chose to show you his form in a way you wouldn’t be afraid. Laura’s approval—that was the buffer. Now…” She held up her hand stopping my interruption. “There are people who believe spirits watch over us and guide us and maybe she was there, truly giving you her acceptance, but that doesn’t mean you weren’t seeing into a future that came to be.” She motioned to the two of us.

“And Milo and I seeing Finch in his true form…in our dreams, changes things?”

“Fae thrive because of nature, and we believe it speaks to us. We give and take from it. Many years ago there was a man named Willow, a halfling…that means he was a child of fae and a human.”

“Wow.” I smiled at Finch. “I didn’t know there were such things.”

“There aren’t anymore,” he answered. “It’s been outlawed.”

Daisy nodded. “Anyway, he would dream and see things. He realized it after a few events and then began telling people. They saw him as divine, chosen, whatever you want to call it. Willow has no label in our books.”
