It was Daisy who answered. “It means that neither side can attack the other until arguments have been made and a majority decision has been made on both sides.”

That sounded like a reasonable request. “Do you think it’ll work?”

“In this case, I feel my dad will agree to it since Arachnis is the one in hot water more than any of us.”

“So it gives us time.”

Finch smiled at me, his face full of warmth and love. “Some.”

“I’ll take it.”

Daisy cleared her throat. “It would make my life, and any who are ordered to protect you, easier if you stayed at the same residence until we know what’s going on.”

“I can’t intrude on them, Daisy. You know that!”

Gently, I placed a hand on Finch’s arm. “She’s right. We’re stronger together.”

Finch’s head whipped around to look at me. “How will you explain that to the kids?”

I beamed at him. “Easy, I’ll explain to them exactly how you promised Laura. You’re here to take care of us. Me with the fire and Milo with his Evan’s Syndrome. I could use the help.”

He narrowed his eyes. “That’s very sneaky, Easton.”

I shrugged. “I can be.”

“That’s settled, then. I will head out for a bit to see what I can learn. Doors locked. Finch, any issues, you know what to do.”

He nodded and I wanted to know what that meant, but I could always ask later. Right now, I realized I was going to have Finch all to myself for the whole night, and there were a lot of parts of me that were very happy about that.

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

Finch

After Daisy left, we locked up. It wouldn’t keep fae out if they decided they were coming, but it was the peace of mind Easton needed.

I followed him around the house while he shut off the lights. I never asked where I was sleeping or voiced that I had no clothes. For some reason I knew in my heart I’d be sleeping beside Easton, and I had no doubt Daisy would bring me stuff tomorrow. As for clothes, I didn’t think I’d need any tonight.

I silently followed him upstairs, smiled as he peeked in on the kids and when he motioned for me to follow, I went willingly. I’d probably follow that man through a forest of hornets.

His bedroom was exactly how I thought it would be. Wooden bed, minimal art but some framed pieces I was sure were things the kids had painted. His dresser had a few things. Sparse, manly, very Easton.

“You don’t have to, but I’d really like to hold you tonight if you’re okay with that.”

He was standing near the side of the bed I assumed was his. There was confidence in his tone, but it was the way he gazed at me that showed need.

“I’d like that.”

He released a breath, and I tried not to laugh. He was a big fireman, walked through blazes, crashed down walls, carried people out of flames, and he was scared to ask me to sleep with him. It was the most endearing thing I’d ever seen.

“I would very much like to shower.” He lifted his bandaged arm. “Is that possible?”

“Of course it is. Actually, are you opposed to a bath?”

He grimaced. “Not a fan.”

I snorted. “Just this once, then? You can rest that arm on the lip of the tub and I…if you’re okay with it, I can help you bathe?”

Yep, his pupils just kaboomed. He loved the idea of me touching him, and I very much wanted my hands on him.
