“We are thinking about collaborating, my hotel, his bar. We’re considering a few cities, including Manhattan. It’s a matter of how much money I want to spend on the project. We’re in the discussion phase now.”

“How exciting.”

“Yes, it is, but I also have several other projects, so this might fall apart. I can only devote so much time to each.”

The elevator opens, and Jordan holds the door for me. He punches a code into a pin pad, and the car takes off, upward, fast enough to make my stomach lurch. In no time, it pings and opens to a massive space of glass, travertine, granite, dark wood floors, and high ceilings.

“You live here alone?”

“For the most part. I have a couple of maids and a chef on call. I don’t require much. I’m sometimes in the office until very late, which is why this is so convenient.”

“You could get lost in this place.”

Jordan chuckles, “I haven’t yet. I’d give you a tour, but it might take a while, and it’s getting late. What would you like to eat?”

“Anything. I would eat a bag of chips at this point.”

“How about steak?”

“Can I have a burger?”

Jordan picks up the phone near the massive subzero refrigerator, and I hear him calling in our order.

“Who did you call?”

“The concierge. They’ll take care of dinner. It should be up in a little while. I’d like to get changed if you don’t mind. I’ve been in this suit since six this morning.”

“You were up that early?”

“No. I was up at four. I worked out before I showered.”

“You have a gym here too?”

“Not a gym but a workout room. Would you like to see?”

“Sure.”

I was curious about his apartment. The ceilings were about thirty feet high in the main room. Walls of glass dominated all four sides of the penthouse giving the occupant fantastic views of the city. I followed Jordan down a hall with rich dark wood floors and neutral colored walls. He pushed open thick wooden double doors to reveal a room twice the size of my apartment with several pieces of machinery for working out.

I’m in awe when Jordan grabs my hand, and I follow him down to the end of the hallway. It’s closed, the room within hidden by another solid wooden door which he pushes open. Inside is his bedroom with a thick cream area rug that covers half the massive floor. An oversized mahogany sleigh bed dominates one wall of the room with two nightstands. A matching dresser and an armoire sit on two other walls.

There’s a sitting area to the left of the bed with two comfortable sapphire-colored couches and a marble coffee table overlooking a patio that is fully lit. I walk over and press my face to the glass like a child in wonderment. Jordan has an entire outdoor space to himself with a long lap pool, several planters with artistically shaped boxwoods, and lots of furniture. What a way to live.

I’m not paying attention to what he’s doing until he presses his body against my back.

“Do you like it?”

“It’s unbelievable.”

“It’s perfect on hot summer nights up into the late fall. I have a fireplace further back. He picks up a tablet sitting on the table and hits the screen. Another light pops on to reveal a large marble fireplace. I can’t stop looking, and I wonder what this place looks like in the daytime.

I notice he dressed in faded loose-fitting jeans and a t-shirt that hugs all the right places.

“Do you like what you see?”

“Um, yes.”

“Good, because so do I.”
