“Fuck! Put more on!” a guy demanded.

My screen split in two as the cameras in the parking lot activated. My heart nearly stopped as a second lot of bikers rode up. And then it leapt for joy. I knew those cuts. Hellfire MC! Chance was here, and that meant Leila and I had a chance at surviving this.

The five remaining Fangs were so intent on breaking down my door, they wouldn’t notice Hellfire coming up behind them. Three men separated and stuck a small package on the adjoining door. I quickly dialled Leila.

“They’re gonna breach the joint door. Are you locked in?” I nearly stumbled over the words.

“Yes, and Hellfire just arrived. Keep calm, Dana, everything is going to be fine,” Leila answered cooly.

That was alright for Leila to say, I thought mulishly as she cut the call. The door experienced another explosive impact, and this time, it rocked.

“Again, double it, we’re getting somewhere,” a voice said. I could hear everything clearly through the camera. What made me wonder was why they hadn’t disabled it yet? Surely they’d seen it.

A third explosion damaged the door enough that I saw it was going to open on the next blast. Where the hell was Chance? The fourth explosion burst open the door, and I crouched down behind the desk and began shooting blindly over my head towards the door. I knew better than to expose myself.

Curses ripped through the air as I gathered I’d hit someone. Panic was welling in my throat. Hellfire should have been here by now. Where the fuck were they? Had they left us?

“Dana! Dana! Stop firing, we’ve got them!” Chance bellowed through my fear and blind shooting. I kept clicking the trigger button even though bullets were no longer coming out.

A large, warm hand covered mine, and green eyes stared down at me.

“It’s okay, baby,” Chance said gently.

I briefly wondered about my appearance. I could only imagine wild-eyed, white-faced, and I’d lay money my makeup had run with my tears. But I did not care. The gun fell from my grip, and I threw myself at Chance. He didn’t even rock as he caught me and wrapped me up tightly. A hand soothed my back as I clung to Chance’s cut and sobbed.

“Why does this shit keep happening to me?” I demanded with a wail.

“Shhh, Dana, we’ve got you now,” Chance murmured as I refused to let him go.

“Why, Chance, why?” I sobbed. Chance bent and picked me up, cradling me like a baby, and I buried my head into his shoulder. “I only want a quiet life.”

“Ain’t gonna get that with Ezra, sweetheart,” Chance said, seemingly amused. He carried me out of the panic room and to a sofa.

“Get one of Hawthorne’s vans and take those assholes to Rage. Axel is there; he’ll tell you where to put them. And be quick, but leave the dead. All the fuckin’ explosions will bring RCPD down in a hurry,” Chance ordered Bear, his VP.

With a worried glance, Bear picked up the man’s body, who appeared to still be alive. Levi and Shotgun followed him, carrying two more living men. I didn’t ask, as I didn’t want to know. The bodies of the guys I shot kept coming into view, and I winced, stuffed my face into Chance’s throat, and hid.

The office door opened, and Leila stepped through. “Police are on the way.”

“Good,” Chance said.

Ezra bellowed my name and came barrelling through the hole in the door. He was wild-eyed, and his eyes searched for me wildly.

“Holy shit!” Ezra exclaimed at seeing the bodies and then spotted me. In four long strides, he was tearing me from Chance’s arm and cradling me in his.

“Are you hurt?” he demanded.

“No. Scared and sickened, but not injured.”

“I can’t believe this shit,” Ezra said, looking around at the office. “Hawthorne will freak the fuck out.”

“Marissa!” I exclaimed through my tears.

“They have her. Marissa’s safe. A little bruised and beaten, but alive. She’s on her way to the hospital,” Leila explained.

“Hear Jacob brought a fuckin’ chopper down on the plane,” Chance stated, tilting his head.

“Yup. Straight on top. Never seen anything like it. A plane, being chased by bikers and SUVs, taxiing down a runway, and a chopper hovers in front of it to stop it taking off. That’s some Miami 5-0 shit right there,” Leila said with a grim smile.
