Basil nodded. “He is the most intelligent man in our family,” he said.

“What about you?”

Basil smiled. “Of course I am intelligent, I am just lazy and not interested in the family business,” he replied. Blake swallowed her ice cream.

“Why aren’t you interested?” she asked.

“It’s not my thing.”

“Then what is your thing?”

“Parties, clubs, jewelry, cars, women.” Basil grinned. Blake rolled her eyes. He was so different to his brother.

“You deserve getting your assets frozen.”

“That’s not fair,” Basil complained. Blake laughed.

“You might enjoy it, you never know,” she said. Basil just pouted in response. The two of them watched TV and talked about random things.

On Tuesday, Blake was at the office dealing with some paperwork. She decided to go check on the construction site. She had to make sure everything was moving along perfectly. Bassem had made it clear that he wanted his house to be completed as soon as possible without any mistakes.

Blake parked her car and opened the door. As she was walking, she noticed a tall man with a broad back. He was wearing charcoal trousers and a navy blue shirt. He had his hands in his pockets, and he was talking to one of the construction workers. Blake’s stomach knotted up. She knew who it was. It was Bassem.

She thought about turning around and getting back in her car, but her plan was spoiled when the construction worker saw her. “Miss Gordon!” he yelled out. Bassem turned his head and immediately made eye contact with Blake. She awkwardly forced a smile and approached them.

“Hello, Sheikh Sedarous,” she said. Bassem kept looking at her.

“Hello Blake,” he said. Blake inhaled sharply. That was the first time that he had called her by her first name. Her name sounded beautiful on his lips. His deep voice was so smooth and seductive. Blake didn’t know what to say or do, so she just stared at him. And he stared back.
