Chapter 7

Blake sat on her desk and just shook her head. Bassem was so confusing. She couldn’t keep up with his personality changes. On Saturday, they were eating ice cream and laughing together. Now he was telling her that he did not like ice cream. Blake wanted to kick herself for not directly asking him about it. She hadn’t because she was caught off guard, and if he was not mentioning it then she wasn’t going to.

“Blake!” CJ yelled out as she walked into Blake’s office.

“Don’t you have work to do?” Blake asked her.

“I just finished meeting with a client. So, I decided to come and see you before I returned to my office.” CJ quickly approached Blake.

“I see.”

“How did it go with the sheikh?”

“Well, he liked my final designs and said he wants me to manage the entire process.”

“Well that is expected.”

“No, he wants me fully involved. I have to hire the builders and all that stuff.”

CJ raised her eyebrows. “I guess he trusts you since the two of you have been hanging out together outside the office,” she said and then grinned mischievously.

“It’s definitely not that. He still pretends as though it never happened,” said Blake.

“He did it again?”

“I offered him ice cream as a joke and he said that he did not like ice cream.”

CJ burst into laughter. “He is a very strange man,” she said.

“Tell me about it.”

“Well why didn’t you bring it up?”

“I don’t know.” Blake shrugged her shoulders. “I guess I was waiting for him to bring it up,” she said.

“You should have said something about it.”

“Like what? And what if he denied it?”

“Then the next time you meet up, confront him about it.”

“Or avoid him completely,” said Blake. CJ laughed.

“Just ask him about it the next time you see him,” said CJ. Blake sighed.

“I have to see him on Wednesday.” Blake frowned as she tried to imagine herself talking to Bassem about it. She didn’t even know what she would say.

“I can’t believe he liked your work so quickly.” CJ sighed. “But then again you are extremely talented. So, if he didn’t like your work, then he would be an idiot,” she added.

“Thank you.” Blake grinned.

Michaela suddenly barged into Blake’s office.

“Blake, you’ve done it!” she cried out.

“Why don’t people knock?” Blake mumbled quietly.

“What has she done?” CJ asked.
