“Sure.” Bassem sat down on the chair at her desk. Her office was clean and tidy as always. He appreciated her tidiness. He disliked women that were not tidy.
“Shall I get you anything to drink?” she asked him.
“No, thank you.”
“How about ice cream?” Blake smiled brightly.
“I don’t like ice cream,” he replied. Blake’s eyes widened.
“Really?”
“Why do you look so surprised?”
“I thought you liked ice cream,” she mumbled as she sat down in her chair. She stared at him with such a confused facial expression. It was as if she was trying to figure something out.
“Why would you think that?” he asked her.
“No reason.” Blake shrugged her shoulders. “Here are the designs.” She handed him the folder.
He flipped though the designs and carefully looked at the corrections she had done. He was impressed with her quality of work. She was quite creative and she met her deadlines. He looked up from the sketches and found Blake’s large green eyes fixed on him.
“Is there something you wish to say to me?” Bassem asked Blake.
“I… um…” Blake cleared her throat. “No there isn’t.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
She still looked very confused. Bassem wondered what was going on in her head. There was clearly something on her mind.
“Anyway, I will go ahead with these designs,” he said. Blake raised her eyebrows.
“Really? You like them?” she asked.
“They’re not bad.”
Blake smiled. “I am glad you like them,” she said.
“I appreciate you finishing the sketches on time,” he said to her.
“It was not easy,” she admitted.
“We will have to break ground this week. I am looking for this house to be done as soon as possible,” he said.
“It is such a big house. It will take a while to complete.”
“I am looking to move in within six months.”
“That means you need a lot of builders, and they will need to work long hours,” Blake said.
“That will be your job.”
“Sheikh?”
“You will be supervising the project from start to end. You will be in charge of hiring all the construction workers, plumbers, electricians and any other engineers you may need.”
“You wish to have me in charge?” she asked.
