“You all said it was about time I got married and I have found someone that I want to marry,” said Daniel.

“Your caregiver?” The king looked confused.

“I saw this coming.” Lady Agaiby smiled.

“I heard that she was the one that encouraged you to attend cabinet meetings. However, I did not know that you had feelings for her,” said the king.

“I do, and I will not consider marrying anyone else,” he said. The king called in one of his maids.

“Go and summon Daniel’s caregiver,” he ordered.

“Yes, your majesty.” The maid nodded and quickly left the room. Daniel was worried. He didn’t like that his father was summoning Fiona. He did not want her to get yelled at. She really did not deserve that.

“I am glad that you finally found someone to settle down with but she is American. How will she cope with our tradition and culture? There is a lot that she does not know,” said Lady Agaiby.

“She can learn,” said Daniel.

“Let us wait to see what she has to say,” said the king.

“She never went to a university,” the queen pointed out.

“It was not because she was not smart but because it was too expensive for her. That was why she took this job in the first place. She wanted to save money for education,” Daniel defended her.

“Really?” the king asked. Daniel nodded.

Fiona arrived almost ten minutes later. She slowly approached them and came to a halt a few feet away. She bowed her head to them.

“First of all, I would like to thank you for accompanying my son to Baltimore,” the king said to her. “And so I would like to reward you for your great work,” he added.

“No reward is necessary,” she said to the king.

“Name your price, I can match it.”

“Really, I don’t need a reward. I was just doing my job.”

“You were doing more than that.”

“I do not follow.”

“I heard that you were the reason my son started attending the cabinet meetings,” the king explained.

“Oh, he deserves all the credit on that matter. I only made a small suggestion,” she replied. The king smiled.

“My son says he wishes to marry you.”

Fiona looked at Daniel and then back at the king. “I know that I have no right, but I would like to marry him also,” she said. The king sighed and nodded.

“A few months ago, my only child nearly died. Then he spent months in a wheelchair. I feel inclined to give him what he wants.”

“Father, what are you saying?” Daniel asked.

“This young lady has changed you for the better. She has made a positive impact on your life and that is the kind of wife I want you to have,” said the King. Lady Agaiby and the queen both gasped in unison. Fiona was just staring at the king wide-eyed.

“You will let us marry?” Daniel asked.

“I have conditions.”

“Name them.”
