“I came to have breakfast with you.”

Daniel crossed his eyebrows. “Is this a place where you can just come and go as you please?” he asked her.

“The queen said that you would be expecting me,” she replied. Daniel groaned with irritation. He did not look pleased at all.

“Lately people just walk in here as they please. I don’t like this at all.”

“I will get breakfast ready,” said Fiona. She cleared her throat. “For two,” she added. Daniel narrowed his gaze at her. Fiona mouthed sorry to Daniel before she disappeared to the kitchen.

Breakfast was a quiet affair. Noor threw out some questions to Daniel but he barely responded. He clearly did not want to talk. Fiona felt very awkward for Noor. It wasn’t nice trying to speak to someone that did not want to speak to you.

“Thank you for allowing me to breakfast with you,” Noor said to the prince when they had finished eating. Daniel just stared at her with a blank facial expression. Noor rose to her feet and bowed her head to Daniel. One of the maids escorted her out.

Fiona and Daniel headed to the living room together after Noor had left. “Well she was nice,” said Fiona. She had to say something to break the awkward silence.

“I am getting sick of this,” said Daniel. “I don’t appreciate people coming and going as they please.”

“Yeah, I get that.”

Daniel came to a halt when he approached the sofa. Just as he was about to heave himself onto the sofa, Fiona wrapped her arm around his waist.

“You don’t have to help me every time, you know,” Daniel said to her.

“It’s my job,” she replied.

“I can do it on my own.”

Fiona nodded and let go. Daniel heaved himself from the wheelchair to the sofa. He did it with ease. He didn’t need Fiona to help him. Daniel looked at her. “Come and sit here,” he said and gestured at the seat next to him. Fiona raised her eyebrows.

“And then your mother walks in and yells at me again?” she replied. That was her excuse. She was shy to sit so close to him especially since they had kissed the day before.

“It strains my neck to look up when I am talking to you.”

“It does not.” Fiona laughed. “I will sit over there.” She pointed at the sofa opposite him. Daniel narrowed his gaze at her.

“Just sit here,” he said.

Fiona sighed. “Fine,” she said and went to sit next to him. Sitting next to him made her stomach knot up. She felt butterflies.

“You are wearing trousers today,” he pointed out.

“Huh? Yeah.” Fiona laughed. It was adorable that he noticed what she wore. Daniel winced a little. Fiona crossed her eyebrows. “What’s wrong?” she asked.

“My back hurts a little,” Daniel replied.

“Shall I get you the doctor?”

“No, you could do it.”

Fiona raised her eyebrows. Daniel had never suggested that she touch him. She was the one that always touched him first and he would always tell her off for doing so. Fiona moved closer to Daniel and started massaging his back.

“Will you be attending the cabinet meeting again?” Fiona asked.

“I don’t want to,” he replied.

“You can’t just attend one meeting and then never go again.”

Daniel groaned loudly. “I really don’t want to but you are right,” he said. Daniel turned to face her.
