Chapter 17

Fiona felt so nervous about going to Daniel’s quarters. He had kissed her the day before. It had come out of nowhere as far as she was concerned. She didn’t know what to do or say. She was not that experienced with men. She had only had one boyfriend and that had ended badly. He had cheated on her with her ex-friend Cynthia. Fiona, Gloria and Cynthia had been so close until Cynthia practically stole Fiona’s one and only boyfriend.

Fiona wore loose-fitting grey trousers and a grey T-shirt. She wasn’t too formal and she wasn’t too casual. She didn’t want to seem as though she was trying too hard but she still wanted to look good for him. She put her phone in her pocket and then headed over to his quarters. On her way there, she ran into Amina. She seemed to be coming from the king’s quarters.

“We meet again,” Amina said to her.

“Good morning,” Fiona greeted her. She wondered what Amina was doing in the palace at such an early time.

“I just had breakfast with the king and the queen.”

“I see.” Fiona wondered why she was telling her. Amina was wearing a boatneck white dress.

“Are you going the prince’s quarters?”

“Yes I am.”

“Dressed like that?” Amina looked at Fiona from head to toe. She looked at her as though she was looking at something extremely disgusting.

“Excuse me?”

“If you are looking after the prince, shouldn’t you dress more appropriately?”

“There is nothing wrong with what I am wearing,” she replied. Amina frowned.

“I hope you know your place. Your job is to look after the prince, nothing else. Do you understand?”

“Yes,” Fiona replied. If only Amina knew that Daniel had kissed her the day before, she wouldn’t be as cocky as she was. She was already acting as though she was engaged to Daniel.

Fiona headed to Daniel’s quarters. She didn’t like the way Amina looked at her and spoke to her but Amina was right. Fiona was only meant to look after the prince. She had no business developing feelings for him. His mother didn’t like her and was already searching for a suitable wife for him. There was no room for Fiona.

“Good morning,” Fiona greeted Daniel. He was just sitting in the living room reading a newspaper.

“You are late,” he replied. Fiona gasped.

“By one minute.” She normally arrived at his quarters 9 o’clock and it was 9:01 a.m. Daniel looked at her with a blank facial expression. “I ran into Amina,” said Fiona.

“Oh.” Daniel rolled his eyes and returned his attention to his newspaper. “I’m hungry.”

“You’re not curious about what we spoke about?” She was not planning on telling him anyway but she was wondering if he was curious or not.

“No, I am not.”

Fiona smiled. “I was not going to tell you anyway,” she said. A maid entered the living room. She bowed her head to Daniel.

“Excuse me, your highness, you have a visitor,” she said. Daniel frowned.

“I am not expecting anyone. Tell them to go away,” he replied. Fiona gasped and crossed her eyebrows at him. He was being rude once again. He sighed heavily when he saw her facial expression. “Fine, bring them,” he said to the maid.

“Yes, your highness.” The maid bowed her head and left the room. She reappeared with a tall, fair-skinned woman with beautiful jet-black hair. She wore a beautiful royal blue dress. She smiled as she entered the room. She bowed her head to Daniel.

“Good morning, your highness,” she said. Daniel stared at her for a moment. He looked like he was trying to remember who she was.

“Nuha?” he asked. She smiled at him.

“Noor,” she corrected him.

“What are you doing here?”
