“Clearly.”

“It’s such a big place. Hopefully I’ll know it well in a few days. The other–”

Before Fiona finished speaking, Daniel cut her off once again. “You talk too much,” he said to her. Fiona rolled her eyes. Daniel was always cutting her off.

“Not that much,” she mumbled. The rest of their journey outside was a quiet one. Neither one of them said anything. It was a little bit awkward. The maids bowed to Daniel as they passed him in the corridor but he didn’t acknowledge them. Fiona thought it was rude that he was ignoring their greetings.

“Ahhh!” Fiona sighed as she stretched her hands out to the sky. The sun was nice and warm. The sky was clear, there was not a single cloud in sight. “It’s good to be outside,” she said as she walked out into the palace courtyard. They moved along the pavement that bordered the greenery. There was a small fountain right in the middle of the courtyard. It was unlike anything she had seen.

“It’s good to have some quiet,” Daniel replied sardonically. Fiona burst into laughter.

“I don’t talk that much.”

Daniel groaned in response. Silence stretched between them as Fiona walked next to Daniel. He wore a blank facial expression. He was so distant.

“What’s on your mind?” Fiona asked. She had been wondering what he was thinking about.

“Nothing that concerns you,” he replied.

“I was only asking, maybe you wanted to get something off your mind.” He was so rude, and there was no need for it.

“Well I don’t,” Daniel replied. They came up to a bench. Fiona threw herself onto the bench.

“The weather is amazing,” she said. Daniel brought his wheelchair to a halt.

“What are you doing?”

“Sitting down.”

“I can see that, but why? I haven’t given you the order to do so.”

Fiona looked at him as though he was crazy. She had been running around doing chores that he had given her, and now she had walked a long way from his quarters. She needed rest.

“Don’t be mean to the girl,” a voice sounded from behind them. Daniel and Fiona turned to see who it was.
