“How’s your mother’s search for your bride?” Emma asked as she picked up her fork. Kiro looked at her with an eyebrow raised.
“You’re worried that she will find someone for me so soon?” he asked her.
“What?” Emma burst into laughter. “I’m not worried.” She was definitely worried. She had only known Kiro for almost a month but she was starting to develop feelings for him. She didn’t want to because she didn’t think that he had feelings for her. He was the crown prince of El Sourial. He could have any woman that he wanted and Emma knew that it wouldn’t be her.
“I’ll ease your worries. She hasn’t found anyone yet,” Kiro replied.
“I’m not worried.” Emma started eating. Kiro just studied her for a moment.
“She is still looking though. My mother is relentless.”
“This food tastes good.” Emma closed her eyes and chewed slowly as she savored the taste. She had eaten Mexican food before but it hadn’t tasted that good. It was different eating Mexican food in Mexico.
Kiro started laughing. “You are definitely enjoying it,” he said. Emma swallowed with a smile.
“Do you have any siblings?” she asked.
“No.”
“Aww, you must be lonely.”
“Why would I be lonely?”
“I can’t imagine life without my sisters. They may be noisy and enjoy making fun of me, but it would be lonely for me if I didn’t have them,” she said. Kiro took a sip of his drink.
“I am used to it. I don’t know what life would be like with siblings,” he replied. “However, I do have Raphael and his younger sister. The two of them have been like siblings to me.”
“That is amazing that they are that close to you. I imagine it is difficult for you to find genuine people,” said Emma.
“It’s very difficult. At least 95% of people that come into my life are looking to gain something. There aren’t many people that I can trust.”
“That’s sad.”
“Not really, I am used to it.”
Emma offered a sympathetic smile. She couldn’t imagine living a life that involved opportunists, gold-diggers and assassins. Kiro lived a tough life. Emma changed the topic and talked about something lighter. She liked talking to Kiro. Even though he wasn’t much of a talker, he kept his gaze on her. He paid attention to her and listened to her.
After their delicious lunch, Emma and Kiro went for a walk. Then they drove through the city and admired the beautiful views. It was something so simple but so fun for Emma. She excitedly pointed things out and took photos with her phone.
“You are so animated. It is amusing to watch,” Kiro said to Emma. She smiled and looked at him.
“You think I’m animated?” she asked.
“Among other things.” Kiro stared at Emma with an intense gaze that made her stomach knot up. She shyly tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
“What other things?” she asked him. Kiro snaked his arm around her and pulled her closer to him. Emma gasped as her chest landed against his. She stared at him with her eyes widened.
“You have gorgeous eyes,” Kiro complimented. It was the first time that he had complimented her. It felt good hearing his words especially since he had such an alluring manly voice.
“Do I?” Emma asked. She was so shy. She didn’t know what to say or do. She had never been that close to him. She could feel his rock-hard chest and she could smell his manly scent. Kiro ran his hand through her hair and searched her grey eyes. He groaned in response.
Kiro pulled Emma even closer to him. He pressed his lips against hers. He pulled away for a second and just caressed her jaw with this thumb. He kissed her again. This time the kiss was longer. He kissed so slowly and gently. Emma held onto his strong arms and let him kiss her.
The car suddenly came to a halt at a traffic light. Kiro and Emma stopped kissing. The driver asked Kiro where he wanted to go next. Emma pulled herself away from Kiro. She tucked her hair behind her ear and looked away. No man had ever kissed her like that before. Her body was on fire because of that kiss. She wanted to kiss him more but she didn’t have the guts to initiate another kiss. She smiled to herself and hoped that Kiro would kiss her again soon.
