Chapter 10

Emma

“You did what?” Madison cried out.

“I couldn’t take the car,” Emma replied as she picked up her burger. They were just about to have their lunch before the next class.

“Why not?” Madison stared at Emma with her blue eyes widened.

“It was a brand-new Benz.”

“Your point?”

“It’s too expensive. I can’t accept something like that from the sheikh.” Emma took a bite out of her burger. Madison raised a perfectly shaped brown eyebrow at Emma.

“Of course you can accept the car. You risked your life to save his. It’s only natural that he thanks you in such a dramatic way,” she said. Emma laughed a little.

“You’re right, it’s dramatic.” Emma took a sip of her drink. “He threatened to have my car towed if I don’t use the Benz.”

“Then just take the Benz.”

“I don’t feel comfortable. Besides, I don’t think he’ll do it.”

“Whether he does it or not, you need to take that car. He owes you a lot more. You saved his life.”

Emma shrugged her shoulders. She was okay with a simple thank-you. There was no need for lavish gifts. “I feel so weird about it. I’ve only worked for him for almost two weeks. How could I accept a car from him?” she asked. Madison narrowed her gaze at Emma.

“You risked your life to save his after knowing him for a week. Accepting a car from him isn’t such a big deal,” she said. Emma smiled.

“Let’s hurry up and eat. We have less than ten minutes left until our next class starts,” she said. She knew that no matter how firmly she spoke with Madison about returning the car, she wasn’t going to agree with her. Emma had made up her mind to return the car key to Kiro when she went into work.

And Emma did exactly that. She arrived at the office fifteen minutes early. She left her bag behind the reception desk before she headed up to the fifth floor.

“Hi Emma,” Dania greeted her as she walked towards her. Dania was sitting at her desk outside Sheikh Besada’s office.

“Hi Dania, how are you?” Emma replied.

“I’m well, thank you. What brings you here?”

“I’m here to speak to the sheikh.”

Dania raised her eyebrows. “Why? Is something wrong?” she asked. Emma shook her head.

“It’s nothing serious. It’s just about a conversation we had yesterday,” Emma replied. She couldn’t tell Dania about the car without telling her why he got it for her.

“Is he expecting you?” she asked. Emma nodded.

“Kind of, is he busy?”

“No, he doesn’t have a meeting at the moment but he doesn’t like people just coming to his office without having an appointment unless it’s family.”

“I see. It’s something that won’t take up much of his time, could you just try and see if he’s okay with me going in to see him?” Emma asked.

Dania sighed before she picked up the phone and called the sheikh. “Sheikh Besada, Emma is here to speak with you. Shall I send her in?” Dania’s jaw dropped. She looked at Emma in shock.

“I can go in?” Emma whispered.

“Yes sheikh.” Dania put the phone down. “He said you could go in. That’s quite odd.”
