“Don’t forgot forget the blondes.”

“I thought you didn’t care for blondes.”

“Ya, gotta spice it up once in a while.”

“Ugh.” I nudged him with my elbow, but didn’t release his hand. He made a show of groaning and doubling over.

“Oh please, I didn’t hurt you.”

“It’s my rib.” He gasped, stopping and releasing my hand to place it over his bottom rib. “I broke a few ribs and they’re still healing.” He sucked in a breath and groaned, his free hand shooting out and grabbing the rail of the ride beside us. “Oh god it hurts!”

The smile faded from my lips as I watched him, his face contorted into a look of pain. Oh shit, maybe it wasn’t a show after all! I’d seen his body naked a couple of times and it was littered with bruises and scars; what if I had hurt him? “Constantine, I’m so sorry.” I placed a hand on his shoulder while attempting to pull up his t-shirt with the other hand to see the damage I’d caused. “So so so sorry, I didn’t know.”

The look of pain that was in his expression a moment ago vanished and was replaced with a wide smile and a wicked gleam in his eyes. “Got ya! You’re too fucking easy, baby.” He straightened as he laughed. He laughed so hard that tears had sprung to his eyes.

“You’re such an ass.” Balling my hand into a fist, I gave his shoulder a jab. “That wasn’t funny.”

“Oh I beg to differ. It was pretty hilarious.”

“I was concerned.”

He shrugged. “I thank you for your concern, my lady, I really do.”

“Condescending ass, I was sincerely concerned about you.” Without waiting for a reply, I walked ahead of him and got into the fast lane. Constantine had insisted on getting the FLASH Passes and I was glad he did; the regular line was backed up at least an hour.

“I’m sorry. That was mean,” he said, jogging up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me back against his front. “Forgive me,” he whispered against my neck, sending a shiver through me and igniting my arousal.

Dirty bugger, he knew what that did to me. Two could play at this game. I rubbed back against him, ensuring that my ass brushed against his crotch. Sure enough there was a stirring in his jeans and a thick ridge began to harden against me.

“Next!” the attendant called out as the line moved forward and we were ushered onto the ride.

“This is exciting. I haven’t been to a park since I was with you.”

“No kidding.”

I shook my head, my hair whipping into my face with the movement. “Nope. I’d forgotten how much fun they were.” Admittedly, it had been so long, I’d forgotten what fun really was. “Gabriel had been very controlling. People would be envious of me, but they didn’t know the truth.”

The ride jolted forward, ending my pity party.

Constantine

I could only guess what she’d been through being with a monster such as Gabriel. Sure, I was also a monster, but it was a different type entirely. The men who met my wrath were deserving of it. The world was a better place without them. Though I suppose most killers justified it one way or another.

I enjoyed the ride, but what I enjoyed even more was seeing the look of joy in her face as she screamed and laughed through the loops and lifted her hands high in the air during the dips to heighten the anti-gravity sensation. This was how I remembered her from my past, optimistic and carefree.

The ride ended too quickly, but despite it ending there was still happiness gleaming in her eyes. I was happy that I could give this day to her. Taking her hand, I led her to the next ride.

By the time the thirty minutes was up we’d managed five rides and my stomach was beginning to grumble. Amusement park food wasn’t the best; I was only able to stomach a hot dog. There was a nice little restaurant about ten minutes away, which was where our next stop was going to be.

The closer we got to the play park, the quicker she walked until she was on the verge of jogging. “Whoa! Where’s the fire?”

“I don’t see him.” She pulled her hand from mine and went into a full-out sprint.

“He’s fine,” I called after her, picking up the pace and meeting up with her at the play park. I scanned the play area and couldn’t see him.

“He’s gone!” She looked up at me, pain and tears filling her eyes. “He’s taken Austin!”
