My head throbbed as I blinked awake, taking in the dimly lit space around me. Large metal pipes and old machinery surrounded me. My mouth was dry as I licked my lips.
‘Where am I?’ I groaned, my voice crackling.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as my cousin’s voice came from behind me. I tried to turn, but my arms wouldn’t cooperate. Looking down, I found myself tied to a metal pipe that disappeared into the floor.

Two of his men loitered near a doorway, but I couldn’t see Hugh.
‘Untie me!’
Hugh laughed, and footsteps approached directly behind me.
‘Why’d you have to be such a little whore? Hmm, Sweet Cherry? You tried to ruin all my plans.’
‘What plans?’ Confusion swept through me as I tried to make sense of what he was saying through my thumping headache.
‘My plans to have Nicole marry Logan to take the heat off of us. So I can continue to have her, but please Uncle Tony and his need for her to wed a decent mafia guy. ‘You... and Nicole?’ Nothing he was saying made any sense. ‘You want to get your sister pregnant?’
‘Not want to, Valentina, I already have.’
My stomach lurched as he walked around me and crouched beside me. ‘But you’ve bewitched Logan with that slutty cunt of yours, haven’t you? He tried to call off the deal for you. But we couldn’t let that happen.’
‘That’s why you’ve taken me?’
‘No. We had enough to keep him playing the game like a good boy. I’ve taken you because he caught Nicole and I together last night, and I need to keep his mouth shut until the wedding goes ahead.’
‘He’s not going to sit back and let you hurt me.’
‘He will. He has no idea where you are. If he doesn’t play, then you’ll die.’

‘I’m taking what is mine. I am the eldest child and the only son, and Tony has forced me to take what belongs to me.’ Hugh’s face broke into an unhinged smile as he leaned forward and stroked a finger along my collarbone. ‘It was never her I wanted. It was always you. I used to watch you sucking on those cherry lollipops and imagine it was my dick. You were always such a tease.’
My chest seized as I tried to move away from his touch. ‘I was just a kid.’
‘Age isn’t a barrier when you know what you want. I’m younger than Logan.’
‘Yes, but I wasn’t a kid when he met me.’

Once the baby is here, I can get rid of Tony, Logan and Nicole and become it’s guardian, taking over until the child reaches majority. I’d intended on killing you and Logan soon after the wedding. But I could be persuaded to let you live.’
I pulled at the ties on my wrists while Hugh reached down into my top and pinched my nipple hard. Crying out, I jerked back from his hand.
