She turns around when I arrive, her mouth opening slightly in surprise. My chest clenches at the sight of those slick, red lips, parted just enough for me to get a peek of her soft, pink tongue.

My gaze crawls up to meet hers. If there’s one thing I love more than her lips, it’s her eyes, kaleidoscopic emeralds with specks of gold and silver dancing in their rich depths.

“You wore my jersey,” I say.

A smile hitches on her lips. “I did.”

I can’t stop my hands from reaching out and landing on her hips. Tendrils of heat shoot from where my fingertips curl into her softness, rocketing up my arms and rippling through me.

Eyes are on us. Summer’s. All my teammates’, who’ve by now caught up to us here at the table.

We’re supposed to keep this hidden. But I’m only human. I’m supposed to hide a feeling this strong? I’m supposed to hide what seeing Olivia Lockley wearing my jersey does to me?

With my grip still fastened to the curve of her hips, I bend my elbows, lightly tugging her to me. She steps into it, towards me, our chests brushing together.

That’s all I need. I press my lips to hers, and she kisses back. My heart pounds in my chest as I angle my head to deepen the kiss, sliding my tongue across the crease of Olivia’s lips. She moans into my mouth, and I drink it up.

I pull back, my hooded gaze searching Olivia’s eyes to read her response. My heart flutters when I see them crinkled with a smile.

My eyes are still on her when she turns her head side to side, sheepishly taking in our stunned audience.

“Uh. We’re kind of a thing now,” she explains, cheeks reddening as her smile climbs higher.

I pull her even closer, the hard planes of my chest pressing against her perfect tits through my jersey. “No kind of about it.”

“I knew it!” Summer exclaims, pushing Olivia’s shoulder. “I’m mad at you! And happy for you! I’m happy-mad!” She pulls Olivia away from me and wraps her in a hug, before then stepping away and shoving her in the shoulder again with a pout—I guess that’s to express the mad part of her emotions.

I know what it means for Olivia to be comfortable about going public with us. It means she knows, finally really knows, that I care about her too much to hurt her.

Kissing Olivia felt good. Seeing her in my jersey felt good. But knowing that she knows that?

Nothing feels better.

OLIVIA

Summer’s been shooting reproachful glances at me ever since she found out about me and Tuck.

Granted, they’re often tinged with a smile, but she still does her darnedest to inject some reproach into them.

She casts another one at me as we’re sitting down at Last Word to catch up on some schoolwork.

“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me,” she grumbles.

I shrug. “Well, you know now.” At this point, we’re just teasing each other.

“I, your best friend, found out at the same time as everyone else.” She shakes her head at the shameful fact. “I feel betrayed, Olivia. What else are you hiding from me?”

“Other than that I’m secretly a princess of a tiny but rich European country? Not much.”

“You know what really bothers me? Tuck knew this secret before I did! How could someone you used to hate know before your best friend?”

That gives me such a belly laugh that I pull my hands away from my keyboard and wrap my arms around my chest.

“The secret was about Tuck, Summer. He couldn’t very well have not known he was screwing me.”

She turns her head away with a harsh harrumph. “Still.”
