Ranveer's gaze heated as it dropped to her mouth. Maya could practically read his thoughts - he was tempted to silence her questions with a kiss.

“I never lose,” he asserted. Taking her arm, he led her toward the raucous open pub.

Inside, Ranveer was greeted enthusiastically by the partygoers. Maya stood back, observing. A middle-aged man approached, slapping Ranveer on the back.

“Congrats on another win. You always make the right bet - what's your secret?”

Ranveer smirked, lapping up the praise. His ‘secret’ was underhanded scheming, not genius. But she held her tongue, watching as he worked the crowd. Ranveer was completely in his element, charming and self-assured. For now, she would let him enjoy his victory.

“He is Mr. Sharma,” Ranveer introduced Maya to the man. “He is the owner of this place.”

“Oh. Hi,” she smiled and shook hands with him. “Who would have thought about a desert in the outskirts like this? This was such a good idea and a wonderful place.”

“Thank you, Miss. Bajaj. I’m from Delhi, and I wanted to get people here to enjoy the beach without actually traveling anywhere. That’s how this idea popped up in my silly mind. But Ranveer has backed up with the funding. That’s why he will always be special customer.”

Why not? He had so much money that he could buy anything. She smiled again.

“It is my pleasure having you both here. Please call me if you need anything. And enjoy the party.”

“We will,” Ranveer replied on her behalf and took her ahead.

“What is it with you and parties?” she genuinely asked. He shot a questioning look at her.

“I get to spend money which is overflowing in my account.”

“There are ways you can channelize your money to the right people who actually need them rather than spending it like this.”

Ranveer stopped.

“Don’t act like my wife. I don’t like it. I know what I am doing.”

She frowned. She had no desires to act like his wife. This girlfriend thing was already eating her up enough.

“Ranveer.” His business associate called him out. “You should meet the client I was talking to you earlier about.”

“Are they here?”

“Yes. I called them so that we can take the deal forward.”

“Perfect, Harry.”

He then turned back to Maya.

“I will be back. Dhruv is here if you want to join him.”

Maya nodded. She had no idea what to expect here, but she could sense the heat. Even to fake being the woman of Ranveer Malhotra was not going to be easy.

“And just a small advice,” he said leaning to her ear. “Keep your eyes open, not ears,” he whispered before leaving with his business associate.

What was that supposed to mean? Was he afraid people would fill her ears against him? She didn’t need to believe what others shared with her; she already knew what he was.

She scanned the corner where a group of girls were constantly staring at her and even gossiping. She could read from their expressions; they were talking about her. Maya avoided them and looked elsewhere, hoping to find somebody she could talk to. Thankfully, Dhruv came to help and give her company.

“Hey, bored?”

“No. It is a nice party,” she lied.

“Yes. Bro knows how to party for sure.”
