“Sorry Mom. It will never happen again.”

“That’s fine. Your voice sounds different,” Garima pointed out.

Maya cleared her throat.

“I just woke up,” she replied.

“Maya,” Ranveer purposely called her loudly, ensuring that her mother heard it too.

Maya turned around to see him, in anger. She knew he did this intentionally.

“Maya?” Garima became cautious. “Is there a man in your room? You told me you just woke up. Then who is in your room, baby?”

Maya pressed her eyes shut. What would she say now? Ranveer Malhotra sat comfortably on the couch, biting an apple, grinning at her, without breaking his gaze from her.

“Mom, I will call you back. Take care.”

“Maya, wait,” Garima insisted, but she didn’t listen. She had no answers to her mother’s questions, and she didn’t want to lie. She disconnected the call and marched to him.

“Just get out of my room.”

“After I shower,” he replied coolly.

“What?”

“Hmm,” he paused to keep the half-eaten apple on the plate. “In case you haven’t noticed, I have already shifted my stuff into your room.”

Maya shook her head. That’s impossible. Was he dreaming or she?

“What nonsense is this?” she snapped.

“It will make sense. Once you agree to my offer,” he blurted. “I told you I will bother you until you accept it.”

“And I told you I am not interested. Does it hurt your ego so much to hear a ‘no’ from a woman?”

“Maybe,” he replied, thinking for a second. “No one has ever told me ‘No’. You are the first.”

“Then get used to it, Mr. Malhotra. Because every time you ask me to do something, I will always deny. I don’t want you anywhere around me in my personal life.”

“I am not giving you a choice, Miss Bajaj.” He walked to the closet and removed his dress for today’s meeting. Maya was baffled to actually see his suits hanging in there.

“You cannot stay here. Don’t you understand?” she shouted at him again.

Ranveer was irritated by her continuous banter. He took out his wallet and removed some Hong Kong Dollars from it.

“We are sharing this room. That’s my share.” He threw the money on the bed.

Maya was bemused by his way of handling things. He just knew how to use the power of his money everywhere.

“Stop flaunting your dollars at me and get out,” she barked.

Ranveer kept his wallet back. He seemed disinterested in going anywhere.

“Fine. If you won’t go, I will. I will check-in some other room.”

She walked to the table to make a call to the reception.

“The hotel is over your budget. Every room here for a night costs half of your monthly salary. I don’t think you can afford it.”
