“And I… kissed…” he paused on purpose to see her reactions. She was writhing to know the next.

“Kissed what?” she asked, her voice hardly audible.

“Your bloated tummy, sweetheart.”

Maya’s jaw dropped. Bloated tummy? What does that mean? Ranveer read her doubts and explained.

“You were pregnant again… with our fifth baby.”

Maya gaped at him for a moment, and when she realized he had framed all that up to tease her, she took the pillows and started hitting him.

“Five babies? Seriously?” she kept hitting him until he snatched the pillow, threw it away, and rolled his wife back on the bed, below him, consuming her like never before.

Maya smiled to herself, recalling that moment. She could spend the rest of their lives with him, alone, here, if only that were possible. There was no disturbance. Aman was taking care of all his work. No official phone calls or emails were allowed; this was Maya’s strict rule before heading here. The only calls and messages they received were from their family. And then there were also a few calls from Ranveer’s lawyer, informing them that the Maliks had been sentenced to lifelong imprisonment and Adira… that girl wouldn’t be out for the next seven years either. Maya felt pity for her, but she couldn’t do anything about it.

Her mother Garima’s decision not to marry Vivek Bajaj had brought huge relief to Maya, though she felt bad for her mother too. She knew how much that woman was in love, and though it was too late to realize Vivek Bajaj was never meant to care for them, she was glad her mother still understood the point and moved on.

Wriggling all those thoughts from her head, she tried to focus on the present. Where was Ranveer, and what time was it? She checked the clock and realized it was hardly 7:00 am. How could Ranveer wake up so early despite sleeping so late? She tied the loose ends of her woolen robe and rushed to the yacht deck to find her husband. He had almost finished a call and turned behind.

“Whose call?” she lazily neared him.

“My girlfriend,” Ranveer joked.

“55-year-old girlfriend?” she asked.

“So what if she is 55? She is still beautiful,” he cupped her face and kissed her lips. “Just like her daughter,” he added.

Maya knew he was talking about her mother, so she played along.

“I heard her daughter is sexy.”

“Bet you, she is,” he nuzzled his nose on the crook of her neck, making her giggle again.

“Seriously, Mumma called you and not me? I am jealous.”

“Your network was not good. Mine worked. That’s why she called me. They are enjoying the safari. She is going to send some pictures.”

“That’s cool. And Daadi? What about her?”

“The old lady clicked a picture beside a leopard. Can you believe that? Daadi has never had so much fun in her life.”

“Neither have I,” she cuddled into him.

They stayed quiet like that for some time, enjoying the cold breeze touching their bodies.

“Where are we?” she asked.

“Heaven,” he whispered in her ears.

Indeed. If this wasn’t heaven, nothing else was. The steward appeared on the deck with coffees and breakfast.

“Do you see those mountains over there?” he asked, pointing at a particular one, miles away.

“Those?” she asked, pointing in his direction.

“Yup. That’s where we are heading.”

“It’s going to freeze out there,” she felt a shiver run through her body, imagining the drop in temperature at that place.
