“Another way?” Ranveer snapped. She was lucky the café had no other visitors. “Your life is at risk, and I am not going to sit calm only because she is your stepsister and you think there is another way.”

“Ranveer, listen to me,” Maya urged.

“No, Maya. I am done with that girl and her nuisances. I am not taking another chance. Get her arrest warrant, Patel.”

Commanding that, he held Maya’s hand and dragged her out to the car. She didn’t speak a word until they reached the car. He stopped and pinned her to the door.

“What is that other way?” he asked hoarsely.

Maya looked angrily at him.

“Why? Why are you asking me now? You have made the decision of her warrant already, haven’t you?”

She saw him grinding his teeth. At times she frustrated him, defied him, but poor man, he was so much in love with her that he couldn’t do anything about it.

“That’s because I promised my wife last night, I would speak to her before taking any decisions that could affect us together.”

Maya wanted to smile but she kept it for later.

“What’s the other way?” he palmed her cheek. Maya felt her body trembling at his touch. However bad they fought; he still had that effect on her body.

“We trap her in her own game,” she answered. “Look. If we get her arrested, the media will know, and the woman who is giving instructions to Adira might slip away. She will be prepared and will escape before Adira even tells us her name.”

She had a point.

“So, I suggest we make this a secret operation… just within the four walls of Paradise and get her name out. Once we know that woman’s name, your people can trace her whereabouts, and once she is arrested, we will think what to do with Adira. I am in no support of her, Ranveer. Because if she is really guilty, she should be punished. I am with you, not against you. I can never be.”

Ranveer was too charmed by her last statement and the way she shared her idea.

“Get in the car,” he groaned.

Maya was shocked by his command. Did he not like the idea? Probably not. She frowned and got inside. Ranveer slipped next to her, and the moment the car door closed, he grabbed her neck and kissed his wife like his life depended on her. That kiss gave Maya all the answers she needed. He loved her and her ideas too. And kissing so intensely in the confined space of their car added more to their passion for each other.

Chapter 70

Paradise

After returning from meeting Patel, while Ranveer busied himself giving Martha and the other security staff instructions to keep an eye on Adira secretly, Maya devised a plan to coax Adira into revealing her intentions. When Ranveer returned to the bedroom, he found Maya deep in thought on the bed.

“I have taken care of this,” he said as he sat next to her. “Martha is not going to leave your sight even for a second.”

Maya snapped out of her reverie and chuckled. “Does that mean when we make out, Martha will be watching us?” she teased, biting her lip.

Ranveer watched her intentionally and groaned. “Do you know how serious this is?” he asked. “It’s not funny, Maya.”

Maya cupped his face. “Nothing will happen to me. That silly girl cannot harm me, and it’s a promise.”

Ranveer inhaled sharply. “If she even thinks about hurting you, I will bury her alive. And that’s Ranveer Malhotra’s promise.”

“Shh,” she whispered, bringing his face closer and touching their foreheads. “You are burning.”

Yes, he was. His whole body burned whenever he imagined Adira holding a gun and waiting for the right opportunity to target his wife.

“Anyways, I have a plan,” she said, leaving his face.

By the glow on her face, he could see how eager she was to share it with him.

“But you've got to promise me you won’t freak out,” she said.
