“Yeah, they too,” he winked, taking a sip from his mug.

Maya's laughter faded when Daadi interrupted them. Romance openly in Paradise was not an option.

“What am I hearing, Ranveer?” Daadi yelled. “Adira is here? In this house?”

Maya's smile disappeared. She had momentarily forgotten about Adira's presence.

“You heard it right, Daadi. She's here in the guest room,” Ranveer confirmed.

“But why? How could you let her stay here? You know she has hurt Maya before. How could you make the mistake of bringing her here? What if she...” Daadi's concerns flowed.

“She won't hurt Maya anymore, Daadi. I've taken care of that,” Ranveer reassured, and Maya remembered why Martha was here. Ranveer had acted swiftly to ensure her safety in light of Adira's presence. Daadi wasn’t convinced, but Maya didn’t want them to argue and spoil the morning, so she intervened.

“Daadi, we will all be careful,” she assured. “Everything is under control.”

Daadi sighed in frustration. “If you both think you can handle this, then I am no one to interfere.”

Ranveer was relieved that Maya convinced Daadi because he wasn’t prepared for an argument.

“Where is Garima?” Daadi inquired.

“I don’t know. Haven’t seen her yet,” Maya replied.

“She is in the kitchen. She loves cooking these days,” Ranveer said, though he was concerned about her habit. “I don’t want her to overexert herself.”

Maya smiled. His concern meant everything to her.

“Cooking for family is even a sick woman’s antidote,” Maya replied. “Nothing will happen to Mumma. She is happy doing all this.”

“I hope so,” he said, shrugging. “I have a few calls to make. I'll see you at breakfast.” He stroked Maya’s cheeks and slipped away.

Before Maya could leave, Daadi held her arm.

“Maya, I am worried. I know Adira likes Ranveer, and now that she is here, she might do anything to get his attention. Don’t let it happen. Ranveer is your husband now, and you should be very careful about these things.”

Maya rolled her eyes. “Daadi,” she said, placing her arm over Daadi’s. “Adira will have to go through me to get his attention, which is never going to happen.”

“That’s what worries me more,” Daadi replied. “If you are in her way to Ranveer, the first person she would hurt is you. I want you to be very careful with that girl around. When is she leaving?”

“I haven’t talked to Ranveer or Mumma yet about it. I am sure they want her gone soon too. But until then, please stay calm and let us handle it,” Maya reassured her.

Daadi smiled. She had full faith in her grandson and his wife. They would tackle it their way.

Adira opened her eyes, stretching on the bed. Her head ached worse, as if someone had banged her head hard. She got up from the bed and scanned her surroundings. This wasn’t her room. Where was she?

“Glad you woke up,” came an unknown voice.

She jerked, hearing the unfamiliar voice. Garima stepped inside the room, holding a glass.

“You?” Adira snapped. “What are you doing here? And… where the hell am I?”

“In Paradise,” Garima said, reaching her. “Not that heavenly paradise,” she added. “Though you had made full preps to reach there by killing yourself last night.”

“What are you talking about?”

“As expected,” Garima sighed. “You don’t remember anything, do you? I found you on the road, trying to cross. You were so drunk that you couldn’t even balance your body. You could have lost your life.”
