Maya felt her cheeks flush, particularly as she noticed his eyebrow arched in amusement and a playful smirk dancing on his lips.

“I will handle this,” he assured.

“How?” Maya asked, desperate to understand his plan.

“Just like I handle the rest of the things, Maya Malhotra,” he asserted, pushing the glass away from the table with a hint of frustration.

Maya was taken aback by his sudden change in demeanor.

“I am sorry,” he apologized, gripping her forearms and pulling her into a tight hug. For a few seconds, she hesitated, not used to seeing him so agitated.

“Talk to me,” she urged, gently caressing his back.

“I wish there was no one on this earth except you and me,” he confessed, pulling away slightly to gaze at her. “I want to spend some relaxing time with you, and there are so many people and circumstances here thwarting all my desires.”

Maya offered him a rare smile.

“I want to take you on a honeymoon. Not for a week, but for a whole month. And while I plan to schedule it, such nuisances come up,” he added.

His pulse quickened at the thought of a honeymoon. Leaving her, he sank into a chair at the bar, feeling the weight of incomplete moments with his wife. He desired to give himself entirely to her, yet they were preoccupied with resolving others' problems. Maya understood his sentiment and gently settled on his lap.

“Let's sort all of this out soon and fly away for a month,” she declared.

He watched her, hope flickering in his eyes, as she cupped his face and drew him closer.

“And until then,” she whispered and kissed him passionately. Ranveer happily surrendered.

Chapter 67

Paradise

Maya stepped out of her bedroom, searching for her husband. Waking up after a passionate night together, his absence in the room dampened her mood. It seemed unfair that he hadn't woken her when he got up. She realized she was becoming lazy due to his pampering, and this needed to be addressed.

“Good morning, Ma’am,” greeted a towering woman with a wrestler-like physique as Maya entered the living room.

“Morning. Who are you?” Maya inquired before the woman could introduce herself. Just then, they heard Ranveer Malhotra's voice.

“Met my wife, Martha?” Ranveer asked.

Maya glanced at him, noticing his refined appearance in a bathrobe, holding a cup of coffee he probably made himself. His tousled hair and morning charm were hard to resist, and Maya had to consciously control her hormones.

“Yes, Sir,” Martha acknowledged, nodding as if she were on a military parade ground before her commander-in-chief.

Standing beside his wife, Ranveer slid an arm around her waist and smiled. “She is Martha, Maya. Your new bodyguard.”

Maya was taken aback. Her bodyguard? She was aware he was searching hard for one after making Aisha quit, but she had expected someone a little less formal and more friendly, unlike Martha. Martha gave a smirk to the couple before leaving.

“Martha?” Maya turned to him. “She looks like a wrestler to me.”

“Which she was,” Ranveer confirmed. “She's ex-military, served for 8 years and then took private contracts. The last one she served was for a minister in Mumbai. She's the best.”

Maya rolled her eyes. It made sense why he had hired her.

“If she keeps following me everywhere, I'm sure no men would even glance at me, forget making a pass,” Maya joked.

“Men?” Ranveer snorted, kissing her cheek. “And women, especially those who make a pass at me and don't like seeing me married to you.”

Maya laughed heartily. “Do you mean women from the Crushers Group?”
