The temple was old, yet remarkably clean, illuminated, and artistically captivating enough to draw their complete attention.

“This is a beautiful temple, Daadi.”

“Yes, it is.” Daadi touched one of the pillars, admiring it with her heart. “Me and Ranveer’s grandfather got married here.”

Maya was overwhelmed to hear that, whereas Ranveer was equally shocked.

“Wow,” Maya mumbled. “I am sure it must have been very romantic.” She shut her lips immediately to ensure the old woman didn’t feel offended. But instead, Daadi chuckled.

“Yes, it was very romantic. I cannot forget that moment for my lifetime.”

Ranveer smirked. He had never heard Daadi share this topic with him or anyone else before.

“The reason I got you both here is because I want your engagement to happen here.”

Maya froze, whereas Ranveer just stared at Maya with desire.

“Whenever it happens, but please make it happen here. It is an old lady’s wish,” she stressed again.

Maya smiled and lowered her gaze.

“Am I pushing you both too hard?”

“No,” Maya shook her head.

“Thank you.” Daadi kissed Maya’s forehead and then hugged her. Maya raised her head and met Ranveer’s gaze. It seemed like he was already dreaming of that celebration.

Chapter 37

Maya leaned down to take Daadi’s blessings. It had been a wonderful weekend here in Jaipur. She met Ranveer’s grandmother who showered so much love and affection on her. Ranveer told her about one of his secrets, Adira Bajaj, and his connection. She was still worried about how she would handle this matter in the longer run.

“Why don’t you come along with us?” Maya asked.

“Ranveer has invited me so many times but I never accepted it. But now that you are asking me this, I will surely pay a visit to Delhi soon.”

Maya smiled.

“You favoring her more than me?” Ranveer teased back his grandmother.

“Yes, because she is great. A woman who can handle you cannot be ordinary,” Daadi mocked, pulling Ranveer’s cheeks.

“It hurts,” he complained.

“Liar,” she pulled him. Ranveer hugged her and kissed her forehead.

“Take care, Daadi, and don’t delay your visit to Delhi. We will be happy to welcome you there.”

“I will inform you,” she replied. “But meanwhile, you both have a big responsibility to fulfill.”

Both Ranveer and Maya glanced at each other.

“Think about the engagement and fix a date soon. I cannot wait for that day.”

Maya looked down, disapproved by the hurry which everyone was casting upon her to make a decision. Ranveer’s lips pressed into a thin line as he gave her a heated look. Her positive response to his proposal was vital to him. For a man who had alone built an empire, it seemed difficult to survive without a woman, without HER. He had dreamt of her every night. He had fulfilled his desires with her in his dreams, but it couldn’t quench his thirst for her. He wanted to hold her for a lifetime. Her presence around was enough to keep him positive and hopeful for facing life even in the toughest days. Losing her would doom his world, his heart, his consciousness.

“Ranveer,” Daadi brought him out of the stance. He smiled at her and then waved a final goodbye to his grandmother before getting inside the Limousine with Maya. They were flying back to Delhi. Holidays were over, and both of them needed to head back to work.
